Just kind of a chuckle moment I thought of. Do you think now since Glenn coached in Missoula that we can sign a home and home contract with Montana that they would actually honor. Glenn was really well liked there. ;-)

Congrats on the hire! I'm actually a Wyoming fan from Kansas but I always really enjoyed Coach Glenn while he was the Pokes HC. I think he is a excellent fit for you guys and will do a wonderful job! He is a very personable guy that is a good human being.

I am optimistic about this move. We are following a coach who was a good recruiter with a coach (who happens to be a USD alum) that has a proven record of winning at the highest level. Seems like a good strategy for the transition. It is also not too hard to imagine JG having some quality coordinators that could grow into potential long-term coaching solutions. Goooooo Yotes!

I have big feet but evidently a bigger mouth! (er, fingers?). Yesterday I predicted Mr. Glenn would not be the new coach, only to be refuted by a thing called reality.
I read the IPFW Argus Game chat and took speculation for fact. Not a good thing to do. I should have known better. Many pardons to my fellow posters and to the new coach of my alma mater.
Coming back to the U. after all the success he's had tells me something about his character and passion for the game. I like that and wish him great success.

I wish him well and of course hope we never lose a game with him there. Couple thoughts. This is a safe hire, not a reach. I am not real excited about it. First major coaching hire ever for Sayler so he probably wanted to be cautious. Don't know about Glenn's recruiting ability, or his connections to good young coaching talent for assts, but that will make or break him. He is older than me and I know I do not want to put in the hours the Meierkort did. We will see if he continues the alumni meetings on Mon nite in SF.

You are speaking of SDSU grad Mike Breske and yes Adam is on your staff. Breske was Glenn's DC at UNC, Montana, and Montana Yes I know all about Mike Breske and his chewing tobacco cost him the hc at SDSU. Obviously he did not want the job. He was the one only challenge Stig faced in getting the job 15 years ago. Also am old enough to have watched his father Al Breske at SDSU.

I was out of town this weekend but was receiving txts and updates on how this was unfolding. I had heard last week the AD took a plane to AZ, put 2+2 together and you had an idea what was going on. Don't feel bad coyote70, word started leeking out on Saturday that Glenn would be the next coach and some contradicting info was thrown out there to throw the scent off long enough to get this thing finalized. By Sunday the news was full blown out there and there was no more keeping this under wraps until the announcement.
Great get for USD. I totally disagree with those that are saying JG's age or that he has been out of coaching will have a negative effect on what he will be able to accomplish at USD. The guy is a good coach and a winner, plain and simple. Extra motivation is that this will be his last go round. What better way to end a great career than to go back to where it all started and lead the alma mater straight to the top?
I like what I've heard about him grooming Wes to take over the reigns someday. I heard that this was how this was going to play out the day after Ed was let go. Didn't believe it, but it turned out to be true.
I like it.

It was right after UNC won the D2 championship, I believe 1996 and SDSU had to wait until the championship game had been played to interview him. He came in cooky as hell and full of mouth tobacco. He acted like he did not want the job so we hired Stig. Thats about all there is and I have no regrets. I suppose he got some signals that Stig had the job. I respect him for his defense schemes. He is a good coach. If USD lands him, he will work out.
