If memory serves me, the U. and State used to play their games the second or third week of October, notwithstanding the pheasant opener. Nowadays, money is more of a factor and I think State probably wanted to get maximum (or better) attendance by switching to a date earlier in the fall. I mean, the weather can be pretty cold in November and fan attendance might suffer.
Of course, State wouldn't want to move up to too early on the calendar because their players would likely cramp up should the weather get too hot.

Anyone know the rotation for which 2 teams you don't play each year. I'm assuming it is not a regular rotation, and involves geography. I noticed we won't be playing WIU in 2022 or 2023.

Also miss Indiana State. Looks like a tough conference slate if all teams hold serve which probably won't happen.

I just don't think these future conference schedules are written in stone. Too much rumbling about Murray State to the MVC which would probably result in their football program coming over to the MVFC. I don't think they have a quality enough football program for the MVFC but we will probably stomach this as the MVC schools in the conference were on board with UND coming in to the conference. Tit for tat. But who really knows, the Racers are a basketball first school and don't really give a crap about football, they might just drop it and use the MVC move as the reason. That way they can use the money saved from funding football to increase their basketball budget.
The biggest issue if Murray State were to join the MVFC (other than their lack of commitment to football) is the conference would be seriously unbalanced. All the power schools would be in the West in the Dakotas and UNI while the basketball playing MVC schools would be in the East. They would obviously want a geo-split because of travel concerns. How is that fair to the West schools? We might as well break off and form Summit Football at that point.

...and that is exactly why the summit should not add basketball only schools. If Augustana wants in I say it's either with scholarship football or bust. Northern Colorado just makes the most sense right now.

Augustana? I don't know why they keep getting brought up by Sioux Falls people and the Sioux Falls media. No way. If Augie were to apply to the Summit, USD and SDSU should immediately start looking for another conference.

Yes, but you think think the OVC will let them park their football program there while pulling all their other sports to the MVC? I don't think so. They'll need a football conference and I'm sure that will be part of the deal with the MVC schools.

Know it all wabbit tools here to save the day again.
The board is well aware they are separate entities. But they have a highly vested interested in each other and no doubt affect each others decisions.

USD has posted their future schedules on their website. Other schools in the Valley have not.

UND is on ours, 9/23/23 in Vermillion. Our site has our football schedules listed through 2023. There aren't any non-conference games scheduled as of yet. That's pretty far out for that.
