The alternative would be to replace those Big Sky home-and-homes with cupcake guarantee games. I'd be all for it since the playoff committee doesn't value SOS.They absolutely don't. Ironic in a sport where they play 1/3 as many games as basketball, and yet they can't be bothered to look past the W/L column. Why do we continue to schedule the Big Sky? It's not like we are saving money flying to eastern Montana and Utah.

All we do is make it harder on ourselves to make the playoffs. In old news: The Valley is tough enough as it is. I don't see many of the playoff teams beating themselves up with tough non con scheduling.

why lamar? who cares about them. the last times the yotes played them was one of the worst D1 performances by the yotes ever. why relive that. i would rather play a different opponent than a rehash home and home with them. how about a home and home with harvard or yale. that would be more interesting to me.

Harvard recently traveled to San Diego for games in 2013 and 2019. Those are the only two games that Harvard has played outside of the northeast since visiting Stanford in 1949. They've also only played like 15-20 different non-Ivy opponents in those 71 years. Yale is a similar story. Yeah, it would be interesting if we could schedule them. It would also be interesting if you put any thought into forming your opinions.

I think sometimes we underestimate how complex the scheduling process is for football. There is a lot of moving parts that the average fan, even the highly knowledgeable fan, doesn't fully understand. I get that we all want intriguing and exciting games in the non-con, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. I think the series with Lamar is OK, it doesn't move the needle as far as fan interest but it gives us 2 winnable games in the non-con to get ready for a playoff run. Non-con games need to benefit our big picture view, either monetarily (FBS games) or games that we can win and pad the W column. Our S.O.S. will usually be good enough with our MVFC schedule to get us in at 7 wins.
