Oklahoma Wizards @oklahomawizards 2013 forward Rashawn Thomas @sobeastly_25 (Southeast) has picked up an offer from the University of South Dakota #okpreps I gather from some tweets by Asst Coach, Lloyd Williams, he is involved in recruiting in the OK area....wishing him all the best! Good comments from Mick Garry about a couple red shirt transfers who should be a big help next year. mgarryargus.tumblr.com/

I'm not turning the page on this season, but I have begun to think about the pieces we have in place to push our program forward. We lose Myles and Boots, and we gain the services of 6'3" G Tyler Larson (injured), 6' PG Trey Norris (D-I Redshirt) and 6'5" G Adam Thoseby (D-I Redshirt). Of course, we may also have immediate contributions from true freshmen and JUCOs. Only three key contributors will be seniors next season: Rowson, Gruis and Tecker.
We look deep at 1/2 (and none will be seniors next year!): 6' PG Trey Norris (reportedly a capable replacement for Myles) 6'3" G Tyler Larson (advertised as a solid defender) 6'1" G Brandon Bos (quickly becoming one of my favorite Coyotes to watch) 6'1" G Casey Kasperbauer (has looked solid as a true freshman) 6'5" G Adam Thoseby (reportedly a sharp shooter)
At 3: 6'5" G/F Steve Tecker (Solid contributor when healthy and finding touches). 6'5" G/F Karim Rowson (Solid contributor. Creates shots. Tough.) 6'8" F Eric Robertson (I think he's a little under the radar, but I see a big upside, and the fact he can shoot the three creates matchup problems).
At 4/5 6'10" C Trevor Gruis (I've been waiting for the kid to bulk up a little, but I just don't see it ever happening. Still an invaluable asset in the paint, and I hope he'll step up as a senior leader). 6'7" F Tyler Flack (He shows flashes of unbelievable athleticism, but I think he's still acclimating to the speed of the game. I hope he keeps his nose to the grindstone, because I see huge upside to his game. The opportunity is there if he's willing to put in the work to refine his game).
Recruits: I know we have 6'6" PF Austin Sparks coming in. Word on anyone else?

I have Austin Sparks as 6'8. I think the ability to go 6'5" at guard withThoseby/Rawson/Tecker and a defender at 6'3" in Larson, makes a huge difference, especially with the weakness to defend that was evident this year. I wonder if some of those recruits for Joe Glenn, that were also BB players, could be allowed to lace'em up for the BB team. We could use a little beef up front.

Just to add on, I also think Brandon Bos has made himself one of the top performers on the team. It will be nice to see which of this year's Freshmen will take a similar leap next year. I agree with Yotemeal, that Flack has a huge upside, and Kasperbauer also. The future is still bright for Yotes BB, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that they could make some noise in the Summit League Tourney.

A lot of talent coming in. Going to be nice have some guards with a little more height/length. As was mentioned earlier, Bos is fun to watch and i think he does more than hold his own considering the height difference. Gruis has been consistant throughout his career. I think he came in as a fresman weighing about 200, 215 maybe if he was lucky. Really got pushed around alot but this last year and a half i have seen a change. He is about 30-40lbs heavier and much stronger and more physical, somewhat to his detriment. He tends to run a guy or two over which straps him with fouls. Starting to hear a lot of talk about Thoesby and its got me real excited to see what he can do! To add another shooter would be a good thing. Hopefully we can come in as one of the top scoring teams in the summit again next year, but change our defensive stratagey and get a few more W's. With a little more defense i think we could be Top 5 in the conference.

Still seems like a limited team offensively and a little short. That is still a big concern since it's the biggest problem of this year's team. Love the athleticism on the offensive side.

Still seems like a limited team offensively and a little short. That is still a big concern since it's the biggest problem of this year's team. Love the athleticism on the offensive side. I actually think we'll have good size and tons of depth. Norris is only 6', but that's not uncommon at his position. Bos and Kasperbauer do not have elite size, but I'm comfortable with their efforts and intangibles. Moreover, I'm wondering if Bos won't see time at the point? Having any combination of Norris, Bos and Kasperbauer in the game at once obviously creates a shorter lineup. However, I think we have the luxury of trying some combinations we weren't previously equipped to even attempt. I'd personally like to see us move away from such guard-heavy lineups. For example, we could, theoretically, start Bos/Norris (about 6'), Larson (6'3"), Thoseby (6'5"), Flack (6'7") and Gruis (6'10"). That's good size, and consider who we would have "coming off the bench": Robertson (6'8"), Rowson (6'5"), Tecker (6'5"), Kasperbauer (6'1"), and our new guys. That's not too shabby. I really think Flack's development will be important to our success. Having he and Gruis complementing one another in the post should open some things up.

Yeah, those lineup combinations are a bit better. Just kind of worried since we have seen a good amount of Flack and Gruis inside. Just think we need more size down low. But like I said and you have said too yotemeal, lots of potential there.

Tonight's game....
Huron 56, Watertown 53... Justin Decker had 30 pts and 7 rebs...
I believe Decker is an early commit for the Yotes. Currently a 6'6" junior center for Huron.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Decker is only a junior this year. I know he gave his verbal last summer. I found Mick's write up on the verbal. See below. Decker certainly couldn't play center at 6'6". I'm wondering if he has the athleticisim to move to wing or if he has some growing left to do. Anyone seen him play? Justin Decker, a 6-6 junior-to-be at Huron High School, has verbally committed to play basketball at the University of South Dakota. Though he’s not posted the eye-popping stats yet, Decker has shown a promising level of athleticism for a taller kid to this point in his high school career (You can see it here.) with high-end potential and the probability he’s not done growing. He wears size 16s. He averaged six points and five rebounds a game for the Tigers last year. “He’s definitely got the potential to develop into a very good player,” Huron boys coach Tim Buddenhagen said Monday morning. “He’s got a lot of natural ability. We have to continue to develop his skills over the next couple years.”

He tried to throw it down over two kids on a fast break but couldn't quite get it down because he got fouled. He has some great athleticism. His shot needs to improve, but he 'thumbs' the ball with his left hand and I think a quick fix of mechanics and he'd drastically get better. I think it will depend on how much he grows. He's probably more 6'5", but he definitely looks like he'll grow to about 6'7". He'll at the very WORST be a bench player that gives you some energy, but someone with more knowledge of him playing in the summer against better competition could tell you more. High school games don't tell you much. I think he'll be an athletic wing who can defend and make a few shots. He won't be overly skilled offensively, but he should be able to help defend the post a bit if he grows a little more. Lots of upside with him. Also, if you get to watch him play in high school, Huron's coach has crazy bald man disease.
