USD heads to Normal, IL to play a very good ISU Red Birds team. A win and the Yotes would be 5-3 (4-1) a loss and the Yotes would be 4-4 (3-2)
This is the official thread for this weeks game! GO YOTES!!!

Try firstrow1.eu on gameday, it's free and usually works.

I would love more than anything for our winning streak to come back home. With each win our team gets more and more confident, and balling up that confidence makes us able to take down anyone. I don't want to get ahead of myself and talk about all the great opportunities we still have on the table (still control our playoff destiny, possible at large birth if we go 4-1), but it's such a good feeling to even be able to talk about postseason implications for our Coyotes.
This week we have Illinois State, fresh off a 55-14 shellacking of Indiana State. Pretty scary scoreboard, but I feel that has a lot to do with Indiana State's implosion this year. They possess 4 blowout losses on the road, and 3 comfortable home wins against teams who have combined for 2 wins over D-1 opponents. In the Valley they are 2-2 with wins vs WIU 35-21 and vs Indiana State 55-14, and losses @msu 37-10 and @ysu 59-21. Their defense is giving up 400 (153 rushing, 243 passing) yards per game, and their offense is averaging 375 (145 rushing, 230 passing). I think their RB Marshaun Coprich, he's averaged 5.1 YPC on 104 attempts for 7 TDs.
We have never had consecutive road wins over Division 1 opponents (nor had we ever won 3 in a row against D-1 competition before!). It appears that this or the SDSU game is the least difficult game left on the schedule, and our team should be prepared to bring in a 4th straight victory. Current forecast is set for 52 degrees in Normal on Saturday, and it will be the last game our boys play outdoors this year (barring a miraculous playoff apperance). A win here would guarantee we finish with at least a .500 Valley record.

I agree with recent previous posts, I believe on the UNI thread, that it appears that our team is very cohesive on the sideline - and not just an offense and defense. That is going to be huge the rest of the season. The team obviously has the confidence that they are going to go into Illinois State and beat up on them. Does our team have the maturity, however, to handle this hype and still perform next week? The real tests have just begun.

Also - just looking around on the ISU message board. It doesn't look like they are giving us much credit yet and are just saying its a "weird" season for the MVFC. It will be interesting to see what they say as the week goes on.

As tough as it is to do after their amazing win at UNI, the Yotes need to put that win behind them and TOTALLY FOCUS on each upcoming game. Many good things happening/developing on the field but also plenty to improve on. Always work to improve!!

It will be interesting to see what they say as the week goes on. Geez. Just no respect from this conference at all. 7 games into the season and we still have the #1 pass defense and #6 total defense, are 3-1 in the conference, 3-0 under our new QB, and just won in the UNIDome. I think that counts for something. I don't know that we'll be favored on the road, but if they think we are a pushover they are not looking very hard at what we are doing.

This is what happens when the "traditional" teams aren't all together bunched up fighting it out. Maybe, just maybe...the household names are going to go don hill for some time, and teams like South Dakota and Illinois State will duke it out with NDSU. Just because the traditional teams are getting beat doesn't mean the league is fatigued. It simply means there is a changing of the guard.
This league is balanced. It's hard to understand how some scores have been what they have been. On paper, it looks like Illinois State should have dumped Mo. State, but the other happened.
I was on Youngstown States website today, and holy smokes, it looks like a who's who of coaches. Mark Mangino, the former coach at Kansas is an assistant. So is the oldest Stoops brother. All the coaches have Big 12 / Big 10 pedigrees. YSU is laying it out in order to get back to the top. It would be awesome of the former coach at Wyoming took out the former Orange Bowl coach at Kansas. But that's next week.
I was in Normal two years ago and it wasn't pretty. The wind blew over 40mph that day, and after our first drive, we were toast. Looking back at last years game, I think we lost 13-10, and could've easily won it. Since then both teams have improved. Which team has improved more? I'm hoping USD.

I'd say Illinois State has regressed since last year as they went to and won a playoff game, and are not at all a playoff team this year. We've clearly improved, but the kicker is that we have to play there. If it's in the Dome I love our chances, but playing on the road is never easy. Win this one though and we're all set up for our run to the playoffs in the Dome!

When a team wins, every successive game becomes more important. This week's game with Illinois State is bigger than last week's. In my opinion the only way we win this game is to vastly improve our special teams. How we do that is a complete mystery, I guess, since virtually no progress has been made to date.
Yes, my message is a bit of a downer, but also one born out of frustration.

Scotty Miller and Jeremy Jorgenson just talked about USD on KFGO's sports talk. Both are impressed with the Coyotes. Good luck this Saturday!!

Yes, my message is a bit of a downer, but also one born out of frustration. It's a huge problem, and a miracle that it hasn't cost us a game yet. Joe Glenn said it's a big problem at the coaches show tonight, and it's really the only thing keeping us from being a completely well rounded team. I've never long snapped, but I can't imagine that it's so hard that no one on our team can do it.

Just voted for the Team winning again this coming Saturday. The monkey is off its back so I think they will keep rolling. I'll have a more specific prediction later in the week. It's real nice to be excited about Coyote Football again.
I don't see the team laying an egg against the Redbirds. Coach Glenn will keep the energy flowing positive.
Go YOTES Go!
