I saw a photo online. Lots of empty seats, I guess that's because of the autograph line at the end of "dunk city's" bench! The Pentagon was packed. I don't know where in the hell you got that from. I dont want to speak for canislatrans but I believe he was just joking. I watched a little of the game on TV and it looked full to me. The Pentagon shows very well on TV. FGCU is a good mid major team with a lot of talent there is no doubting that. Preseason polls are BS so I can see where a lot of people can think this FGCU team may be overrated and getting the attention because of that NCAA tournament run 2 years ago. They have most of those guards back from that run. But they also had all of them last year and they were bounced out of their conference tournament and beat out of the NIT the first game. And Mercer the team that won that conference the last 2 years is no longer in that conference. IMO FGCU and the Atlantic Sun conference are no better than the Summit League and its best teams. If anyone in the Summit League thinks they are in the top of our league they should beat teams like FGCU as they are equals to our conference not greaters.

It had me interested so I looked it up.
Since the 2005-2006 season the Summit League has been ranked ahead of the Atlantic Sun conference in RPI(Sometimes Significanlty higher) every single year except the 2010-2011 season. (once in the past 9 seasons)

And I'll say again, losing to an Atlantic Sun team by 16 is nothing to write home about.

And I'll say again, losing to an Atlantic Sun team by 16 is nothing to write home about. It was 13. No one is bragging about the outcome. All I'm saying that it isn't a bad loss. FGCU is a solid mid-major program who would probably picked in the top 3 in the Summit. To say they aren't good is plain stupid.

I agree sandakotastate it is not a bad loss as they are a good team that would be in the top half of the Summit League. But at the same time it was a home game for the most part and a double digit loss.

Anyone else think we've got a pretty good shot at pulling out a win? We share two common opponents with UNLV, and they paint a favorable picture:
Stanford 89 - UNLV 60 Stanford 87 - USD 76
Sam Houston State 57 - UNLV 59 Sam Houston State 93 - USD 85 in 3OT (score doesn't tell half the story in that one)
With this one basically being a home game I like our chances at a landmark victory for the program.

This year is the first year in a while I'm not worried about our team coming out prepared every game. Smith will have them ready and with a good game plan.
The Rebels do not look too much bigger than us but I'm sure they will have more athletes. It will be a close game either way but I do think the Yotes pull it out 65-61.
Does anyone know if Flack is just going to redshirt this year since so much of the season has passed already?

Guys I was there and watched about 2/3 of the game. I would say there were probably 100 to 150 open seats, which includes suite area. There was one suite entirely empty. It was a very good showing by SDSU fans. The first half was loud, not so much second half mostly because of 10 to 0 run to start half.
. #4 for SDSU is pesky good. Larson disappoints for the hype. Tall kid from Alaska was ok. State played well in first half. FGCU is not a bad team but not like they were two years ago. They are good enough to do well in Summit.
There does not appear to be a go to guy on SDSU team. Maybe #4
They are not top of Summit, if they are then Summit is really down in talent

The Summit League is definitely down this year, none of the teams have been impressive at all really. I'd say it's just about in everyone's reach this year, even USD's.

FGCU is a good team. They were sleep walking through long stretches of that game, which i think accounts for many of the underwhelming impressions. SDSU has some good pieces, and if Marshall lives up to the hype, they'll be tough. I think Cody Larson is underutilized. He's a force. Much like us, SDSU is clearly trying to figure out how some of the other pieces fit together. A lot of people sort of write off this portion of the schedule, but it's really critical to the league. The continued elevation of the Summit in terms of seeding and number of seeds requires strong non-conference wins. Doesn't appear to be happening this season with a lot of teams still trying to find their way.

FGCU is a really good team. They boat-raced UMass on Sunday to move to 8-1 (their only loss was to UW-Green Bay, who subsequently beat #15 Miami over the weekend). FGCU should be a tournament team this year, which is a hell of lot more than I can say for the Jacks.

It looks like there are about 150-200 tickets remaining. With walkup I imagine this will be a sellout which is a good thing. Hopefully the Yotes will concentrate on what they do best with their 4 guard offense. That lineup seems to produce the best results and with it the Yotes can beat UNLV if they play a good game. Make UNLV worry about how they will matchup with the Yotes rather than just simply trying to matchup with them. With the size the Yotes are giving up comes with some benefits all around the court that isn't under the basket. The Yotes should definately be able to stay in this game. With the crowd advantage and with the good feeling around the team after the Creighton game I am going to pick the Yotes in an upset 79-70. Lets go get em Yotes.

Been waiting MONTHS for this game! A big win tonight would certainly help me get over the painful loss to Creighton (though I am very proud of the performance)
Still can't believe we got UNLV to come to SD. Let's make the most out of this rare game! Go Yotes!

The game's on Midco...some empty seats but looks like a good crowd. With 9:30 remaining in the game, UNLV 61, USD 46
