"Lane violation" late in the game killed any chance USD had at mounting a comeback. 75-61 final

UNLV was just too long and athletic. They have alot of thin, lanky types without much bulk but it didn't matter as the pure height and reach was just too much for USD to handle. I thought the Pentagon itself was ok, not much good or bad to say about it as it's just another arena. Most people say it has a retro look.
I thought USD played hard but they didn't necessarily execute well enough tonight. UNLV is a tough opponent and offers some things that the Summit won't necessarily be able to match. Their D was coming way out to guard the 3 line and USD didn't have enough big bodies to take advantage down low. One thing I like about the Yotes that I don't remember seeing alot pre-Smith era is that they drive to the hoop alot and don't just settle for long jumpers all the time. The Yotes passed it around alot trying to get open but turnovers were kind of a bug-a-boo and UNLV really made the most of them.
These losses kind of suck a bit right now but going forward the Yotes will be well prepared once the Summit League starts. As long as the team keeps playing hard and doesn't hang their head I can see a .500 or better record in the league.
The atmosphere was really fun tonight. It was about 80% pro Yotes but there was a couple of nice pockets of UNLV fans. The crowd was very good for the most part. The feeling of an arena is so much funner to be a part of than a game in a spacious dome. I wouldn't mind if every game was in the Pentagon until the new arena is ready.

It was a fun atmosphere, and would have been a whole bunch more enjoyable if the Yotes could have gotten back into the game. I can't wait to have an arena and get experiences more like what happened tonight, it's difficult to get into games at the Dome.
I walk away rather unimpressed with UNLV. If they make the tourney, no way they're advancing on my bracket. We were in for a very tough game when their smallest guy on the court more often than not matched up rather well with our largest guy on the court. Even still, I like what the coaches are doing with what they have available.
Both games I've been to at the Pentagon have been enjoyable, I hope that at least one of our teams makes the trip up there next year.

Can't expect Bos and Larson to be the 2 man show every night on the floor. Kasperbauer didn't shoot well tonight and burnette was a non factor after having a terrific game against creighton. This team will struggle in the Summit if they can't find scoring outside of 2 players. Robertson was a plus tonight on offense, I hope he can continue to play that way. UNLV was long, lanky and athletic but the coyotes need more firepower besides a few guards. Bos was very impressive tonight!

When are you guys going to get it? These guys don't know how to win. We keep playing the same guys and coming up just short, which isn't good enough. I think smith has got the wrong end of the saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

I'm a football guy but here's my 2 cents worth. We simply don't have the talent, or even close to the talent to line up with the big boys and expect to win. Craig Smith is coaching these guys up, and my feeling is that's even why we are in games. Bo's and Larsen have been outstanding and Casey has his moments as well. Let Coach Smith get his kind of kids in and I really do think he will win big time. He's doing a great job in my opinion . They play hard for 40 minutes and they are trying. At least they come to compete.

Some of you are clueless. Have you seen a Yote team playing this hard, with this much heart, sharing the ball, and scrapping and clawing in the last 5 years? No. I was at the game and I had a hell of a time. I thought the Pentagon was intimate and close and I thought other than turnovers the Yotes were fine. UNLV has 3 potential NBA guys and a top 5 2014 national recruiting class. Of course UNLV is going to get out an guard the 3 point line they have two or three guys with 7 foot wing spans defending the rim. Why would they let the Yotes shoot threes all night? No one likes to lose but again I am going to stress this program is on the right path, unbelievable fight and effort for 40 minutes just like yoteforever mentioned. Add a couple more pieces and we are right there

These guys played 40 minutes of unselfish basketball and like you, I have not seen this in the last 5 years either. I definitely think we're on the right track!

Don't even try to say Thoseby is the answer. [br Don't try and predict what I'm going to say] You insinuate that Smith should be playing different guys, who do you think should be out there? Because the only two scholarship players left that aren't really playing are Thoseby and Harris. Did you watch this game? I'm pretty sure the only reason we weren't run out of the gym from tipoff is because of how much Smith is able to get out of his guys. As long as we have such limited talent inside we are going to be fighting an uphill battle, and that's not at all something that can be fixed with a simple lineup change.

I definately agree with those that say that Smith is getting the most out of his players. I think the talent can be better but on the other hand I think there is enough talent (at least in the back court)for the Yotes to be a real factor in the Summit League. UNLV has alot of talent they just need to figure out how to play together. That talent was enough to overcome the Coyotes and a few other teams on their schedule.

There is enough talent in the backcourt but the frontline needs to step up and be more consistent. The boys are playing hard but I would like to see a few more wins also. Time will tell, go yotes!

If I'm honest, I'd expect you to be getting the most out of a player when they're playing 3/4 of the game. You're gong on at me for being negative and unsupporting but what sort of message are you sending out to our players that aren't getting court time? I'd be thrilled to know that I have very little support from the crowd. I'd also like to know how many training sessions you've attended because the ones Ive been to certainly don't reflect the performances on court from our supposedly 'star' players.
