It's official the Coyotes didn't make the NCAA tournament as an at large bid. I held out hope that the 2% chance they had to make it would come to fruition. WNIT here we come. I believe more will come out with that later tonight.

Give it a couple hours and we will know. Looking at regional teams that appear to be NIT teams I am seeing Iowa, UNI, Montana State, Minnesota, Nebraska, and North Dakota. Matchups seem to be based on geography first, so I'll happily take our home game against Nebraska

The Coyotes will host Creighton on Wednesday and if they win that will play the winner of Minnesota and Milwaukee.

Creighton again? Color me unimpressed. Oh well, I'll take another win over them.

Here are the RPI's for the Coyotes quarter of the bracket from top to bottom. The Coyotes have the 4th best RPI of these 16 teams in this quarter. If the Coyotes keep winning they will be the highest RPI team through the first 3 rounds. There is absolutely no reason the Coyotes couldn't host 3 games if they survive that long. The Coyotes hosted Drake when they were red hot. They were either undefeated or had 1 loss but after USD beat them they went reeling. Creighton is solid but I think they are very beatable and if the Coyotes play like they have been since their game in Fargo there is no reason that they shouldn't handle the Blue Jays and a double digit win wouldn't be surprising.
Minnesota 81 Milwaukee 139
South Dakota 62 Creighton 115
Drake 109 Sacred Heart 202
Nebraska 93 Northern Iowa 91
Iowa 58 Ball State 64
Saint Louis 54 AR-Little Rock 102
Memphis 113 Tennessee Martin 107
Western Kentucky 38 - sounds like a big omission from the NCAA tourney Dayton 83

The Coyote fans need to support the athletic department and get over 2000 rumps in the seats which could help get the next game following a victory over Creighton. It certainly should help the team if you keep getting home games. Victories over Big East or MVC or Big 10 would be good for the Summit. Good luck in the tournament.

Does the WNIT only use RPI to determine home games, or is there more to it than that? I see plenty of first round match ups that don't follow that rule already, but geography may be a factor, I guess.

Good analysis of our "Midwest " region by CF above. I would add that the WNIT 's focus on proximity seems to create a pretty unbalanced bracket. The three teams with RPI's in the top 50 are all on the left side (west and Midwest regions). WKY in our region. UTEP and Ark St in the West. Those teams also play each other in round 2. Ouch!
