The Jacks board has some really decent people, but like any board, has its share of A-holes as well. They indeed have their own culture up there which I find in conflict with ours, so I have learned over the years to just ignore the idiots. Having compassion for the Miller girl is not only right, it's normal for anyone that has ever competed at any level in sports. She's a great athlete, no now they have to figure out who's going to step to the plate to replace her. USD has figured out how life goes on without Duffy or Trimboli, now it's their turn. We certainly will be better when they do return, but until then, our team lays the foundation for getting better into the future by experiencing the pain of maturing now.
Injuries are part of the deal. Life moves on, just like graduation. USD lost a senior class last year that will likely not ever be duplicated in some time, but then again maybe it will. That's what is awesome about sports. December 31st....game on against the bunnies. Both teams

RPI update:
50 USD 74 SDSU 81 IUPUI 127 Oral Rob 158 West Ill 162 UNO 300 NDSU 323 Denver 336 IPFW
Summit slides back to #17 of 32.
Seeing IUPUI and ORU in the top 4 makes a little more sense to me. With more data the RPI is a better metric. Still puzzling to see State below us, but it's probably just a SOS thing. I will be pleasantly surprised if we win one of the two (or three) times we play them.

Interesting to compare ourselves to regional rival conferences.

It looks like the "official" RPI (directly from the NCAA) finally has been updated just today! *** Here's a link: www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-women/d1/ncaa-womens-basketball-rpiI was using realtimerpi.com, which is one of the many "simulated" RPI sites. I'm not sure how often the real RPI is updated, but in light of this, I'll use the real one instead. Thanks for the heads up! ***Edit: The list shows a "previous ranking", so it looks like it is being updated... I just hadn't found it.

I'm curious - when in the schedule does everyone think it is time to "really" get excited about this team? D2 games are obviously not it. Do we have a 'Gonzaga' moment to look forward to like MBB? Beating Illinois wasn't as difficult as it could have been. I think the next two teams (Northern Ill and Southern Ill) will provide a better challenge and barometer of where this team is at: Northern Illinois leads the country in scoring offense, averaging 92.6 PPG!Northern Illinois is #3 in Free-throw % at 81% (we are 80.5%) Northern Illinois have outscored opponents 81-27 in fast break opportunities. should be fun to watch. Southern Illinois is #4 in 3-point defense. Southern Illinois is #29 in Assist-to-Turnover ratio. we will need a strong inside game for them, I think. both teams have a few really outstanding players as well.

I think with the Northern Illinois game, turn it into a physical game if the refs let them play. That will be a good way to slow them down. Try to keep the pace a little slower than what N Illinois would like to play but if they press make them pay with easy baskets instead of just settling for getting the ball across the time line.
With Southern Illinois that will be an interesting matchup. The Coyotes have really been moving the ball well and quickly to get open looks from outside. They will definitely need to do this some more against the Salukis. I agree that getting Fogg into the 20's again in scoring would probably bode pretty well also.
Looking forward to these games and hope both are free to view online.

The Summit League's women's teams are done playing until Dec 28, so here's an update on RPI after the banner day yesterday where 3 of 4 teams won (two in major upsets): 47 USD48 SDSU73 ORU 94 IUPUI 116 W Ill 158 Omaha 331 NDSU 332 Ft Wayne 342 Denver The NCAA's "official" RPI does not do the math of ranking conferences, but the "simulated" RPI at this site does: rpiratings.com/womensrpi.phpThe Summit is ranked #12: (#4 mid-major) 1 SEC-----------------(traditional power 5, or high major conferences) 2 PAC-12 3 ACC 4 Big 12 5 Big 106 Big East-------------(conferences also widely considered to be high major in BB) 7 American8 Colonial-------------(mid-major conferences) 9 MAC 10 WCC 11 Atlantic-1012 Summit

Those rankings might leave a small crack in the door for a possible at large big. A small one, but a crack none the less.

I want to clarify. I mean a possible at large big for a Summit League team but not necessarily the Coyotes. Of course hopefully that team would be the Coyotes because they would be a serious contender if the league ever would get an at large.
