I'll try to post here from time to time to update the changes in RPI. If I drop the ball, feel free to post your own updates Right now we are up to #37! pretty amazing. Looking at our non-conference schedule, as long as we don't stub our toe against a low-ranked team, we could climb even higher. Here is the non-con: 109--SIUE ---------------W 47---SF Austin --------W
38---Arkansas ---------L
162--Tulsa ---------------W 188--UC Riverside ------W 129--CSU Bakersfield --W --Concordia-St. Paul 171--Wyoming 323--Illinois 219--San Jose State --Northwestern(IA) 114--Northern Ill 85---Southern Ill
And here's the Summit League: 18 --SDSU 37 --South Dakota 74 --Western Ill
140 -IUPUI 194 -Oral Roberts 217 -NDSU 256 -Denver 261 -Omaha 347 -Ft Wayne

Interesting - thanks for posting. Right now the selection committee would need to be creative as to why the loser of the SLT wouldn't get in. Pretty sure they would come up with a reason, but at least they would be forced to be creative...

#12 Wow, after all the turnover in the off season this is a very nice show of respect for Coyote Women's Basketball.

#12 Wow, after all the turnover in the off season this is a very nice show of respect for Coyote Women's Basketball. Do you think most pollsters are informed enough to know what kind of turnover we went through? I'm skeptical. I am surprised to see the team put out the results to get this ranking though.

CollegeInsider poll is from the coaches, so yes, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that they at least knew how much turnover USD had.

The Coyotes have moved up quite a bit since the first ranking. I believe the Yotes were outside the initial rankings. They are moving up based on their merits this year more so than anything that was done last year. Their reputation gained from last year certainly doesn't hurt though.

Coyotes now #33,
SDSU #32.
I'm not so sure we would beat them at this point. We're still finding our way with new starters. Good to be winning, though.

I'm curious - when in the schedule does everyone think it is time to "really" get excited about this team? D2 games are obviously not it. Do we have a 'Gonzaga' moment to look forward to like MBB?

I think it's the Illinois game. Not sure how Illinois is doing this year but we beat them on the road last year. If we can beat a Big Ten team with our young group I think we can start getting excited. Edit: Just looked at their schedule. They're 2-4 with wins over USC Upstate and Arkansas Pine Bluff. They host Fort Wayne on Friday so that might give us an idea.

You should already be excited. You've got three years of an Allison Arens/Ciara Duffy backcourt to look forward to.

Arkansas was terrible last year, but are undefeated now. I think when you are in a power conference you will inherently have some access to talented athletes, and can turn it around a little faster. Perception-wise beating a Big Ten team will grab some attention regardless of their record.

Because of the results/closeness from the Arkansas game in Fayetteville (and I mean that as a positive) I would give the Coyotes about a two-thirds chance to beat Illinois at home. I have a hard time believing that Illinois is better than Arkansas. As far as the games against SDSU I kind of wish the Coyotes played at Frost first and back in Vermillion later on. I believe the game in Brookings is pretty much going down as a loss regardless of when it is played. The game in Vermillion holds a little more intrigue. I think USD will continue to improve more throughout the year than SDSU will. Not that the Jacks won't naturally get better as well but not at the rate that the young Coyote team will.
Many SDSU fans have long since written off the South Dakota Seekamp's because without Nicole there is no way that the Coyotes could continue to be good and for sure without the other seniors and Amy Williams as well. Kind of funny how that works because the Yotes are still here. Many other Jacks fans are talking about a 16-0 conference record and a sweet 16 as if it was a right of passage for their team this year. Many don't even view the Coyotes as a threat to them. I just love the continued disrespect from Brookings regarding the Coyotes program. I hope that kind of a thing drives those players every day. It sure seems like they are a pretty driven team so far.
