All the brackets are out, here is where the Summit League is competing in the postseason:
NCAA: 16 sdsu v. 1 Gonzaga NIT: 8 USD @ 1 Iowa CIT: Ball State @ IPFW
Very surprised to see IPFW continue their season over NDSU or even UNO. 8-8 in the Summit League doesn't exactly warrant a postseason bid. They even get to host Ball State.
We also have future Summit member UND as a 15 seed playing Arizona.

I hope USD never declines a post season invite. I don't see anything bad that can come out of that except for the money that it takes to travel perhaps. At worst it is a chance for at least one more game for the team to get better.

For young teams I would agree with that, but in the case of NDSU (not sure about Omaha) the way their season ended it just seemed like it was better for them to end their year. Sucks for the seniors, but such is life.

Did they actually decline their postseason offers? Seems weird that anyone in the Summit League would do that.

Wow. hard for me to understand why any team in a conference like the summit league would turn down any postseason bid unless they do not want to spend the money or do not have the money to go play in these tournaments.

Too bad for the Summit League who is trying to gain traction on the national scene too. Free press if the Summit League teams do well.

I can see both sides. It would have been nice for them to play and beat other teams to strengthen the Summit League overall.

Cost v. Benefit. Winning the CBI or CIT won't get you any attention, you're paying for the opportunity to further develop your team. I found an article from 3 years ago that says it is a minimum of $30,000 to host a game in one of these tournaments, with the CBI getting up to $50,000 for a quarterfinal game, and $75,000 for each semifinal and finals game (where the finals are a best of 3, so you might host twice). If you decide not to host you're still stuck with all the travel expenses.
UNO was in the CBI last year. I guess they found the reward didn't justify the cost. Their game was in Pittsburgh less than 72 hours after the CBI bracket was released. I bet they got very little from accepting that bid. One extra practice plus a game?

USD, SDSU and IUPUI officially did not get into the NCAA Tourney. This was expected. There is a very good chance all three will be in the WNIT announced around 8PM Central tonight. IUPUI is the automatic seed. I just hope that they bracket USD and SDSU as far away from each other as possible. There is a good chance that UND will be close to the Coyotes in the bracket. Creighton is also a possibility as well if they make it.

I guess that settles that with Creighton. I just briefly saw the tourney field and did not notice Creighton. According to the WNIT web site the auto qualifiers that might be close or somewhat close to the Coyotes in the bracket are as follows but that doesn't take into account if any other of these teams also made the NCAA's.
BYU Central Michigan Colorado State - how about make Ryun Williams come back to Vermillion IUPUI North Dakota Missouri State Wright State

Seeing Creighton get an at-large bid (7 seed) bothers me when they play the SD schools on a near annual basis and lose every damn time, yet we never get serious consideration for an at-large. Their non-conference doesn't look to stand above ours and their record is built on some weak conference foes. Got 'Big East' next to their name though... Edit: Add UNI to that sentiment, and it looks like Drake would have gotten in at-large if they didn't win their tournament. Beat all 3 of these teams last year. Could have beat all 3 again this year and wouldn't have had any consideration for an at-large bid.

Of interesting note 5 out of the 6 USD opponents in last years WNIT made the NCAA tourney this year. Minnesota missed out but the following teams all made the tourney.
Creighton - 7 seed Northern Iowa - 10 seed Western Kentucky - 12 seed Oregon - 10 seed Florida Gulf Coast - 13 seed
