I have talked to Jamie Zepp at KEVN in Rapid and he gives the Yotes good coverage and did an excellent job during the women's WNIT championship run!! Out here naturally SD Tech and Black Hills State get most of the coverage. All Coyote fans wherever they live in South Dakota should definitely let their media know they'd like to see more coverage.

I put blame the local markets (Sioux Falls & Sioux City) for a lack of coverage since they're relatively close but for Rapid I understand that it's hard for them to cover stuff. I wonder if they could work something out with the school or with a sister station in SF to get more stuff

I wonder if they could work something out with the school or with a sister station in SF to get more stuff I think in Sioux City's case any coverage from them is really gravy IMO. It is tough to cross state borders and expect to get coverage. Since unfortunately the Argus is kind of the flagship paper of the state they sort of have an obligation to cover the Coyotes. If Sioux City was located about 10 miles northwest across state lines their coverage would be second to none. They really should be covering Sioux City teams first and probably even Iowa and Iowa State.

Find me one person who said SDSU would beat ND at Frost? That said, has ND visited Vermillion yet? How about De Paul? Penn State? I can go on but it just gets silly after a while. Our Women's program is a top 50 program every year. Has USD finished top 50 more then once? We are known nationally. Are USD? No one remembers the WNIT outside of South Dakota. It just is that way. What they remember is SDSU beating Miami and almost taking down Stanford. They remember SDSU pummeling TCU and falling short, by 2 to a Brittney Griner led Baylor. They have seen SDSU in the top 25 and receiving votes as one of the top (along with GB and MTSU) mid-major. Unrealistic expectations? I realize that CoyoteFan and a few others believe your Women's, and now Men's programs have had the same success since moving up as SDSU have had. That doesn't make it true. USD made the NCAA tourney once, SDSU have been their ELEVEN times. USD were thrilled with a 20 point loss in Iowa to a a traveling Stanford. SDSU's Women have won 2 first round games and come within a basket of moving on to the Sweet 16 twice. You did win the WNIT. And had to go to big time Minnesota for one of those games. We've played in Minnesota. In fact, I'm not sure we have ever lost in Minnesota. A sore spot for the Gophers. That's why they won't play us anymore. Our Men have competed well in the NCAA tourney, but the loss to Michigan and less so Gonzaga were both the low points of our 4 trips. I know, we would have never made either tourney without our home court advantage. Isn't USD closer to Sioux Falls then SDSU? How about the three trips the Bison have made? How was that even possible? You may not like it, CoyoteFan definitely does not like it but SDSU will be very good next year in both Women's and Men's (and football). SDSU's Women will be much better next season. You can hear it when AJ talks about it. He knows what he has coming back, and coming in. SDSU will be the favorite (sorry CF) and will fight WIU for the top spot. SDSU's men will fight with USD for the top spot. Yep, I'm giving USD credit. I think your men will be the favorite next year. SDSU will be #2. And if USD's men are able to beat us for the tourney title we won't complain about refs, or crowds. We are a more mature fan base who have experienced enough success to not spend time whining. This is my first post after lurking here for a few years, but I'll respond to you because I think you've contributed some good insight in some of your posts. First of all, if you think the Jack women are "known nationally" you're delusional. Maybe in the tight circle of women's hoops, but that is a very small contingent. Sadly, women's basketball just doesn't register much on the radar of the average sports fan nationally. South Dakota and the surrounding areas are somewhat of an outlier when it comes to following their women's teams so good for us and I imagine that's why we have the Summit Tourney and USD was able to host all the WNIT games last year. Nobody outside of the local area has any clue what you have or have not accomplished. I'll confess: I know nothing about D1 women's hoops outside of the Summit except that UConn destroys everyone they play . I spent my most professional career in the Black Hills and Nebraska and in all reality there is not even much of a following for USD or SDSU sports in the Hills in any sport outside of a few alums and some parents. Rarely is anything on the local news and there's minimal coverage in the RCJ unless it's something extraordinary like the WNIT team last year with two girls from Rapid starting for USD. Nebraska is even worse. Most of my friends there were hard core sports fans and again, unless they had a connection, couldn't keep straight what school was the Coyotes and which was the Jacks. When State played the Huskers a few years back I was getting all kinds of grief from Husker friends about how bad they were going to handle my alma mater and I'd be like, "No, that's not where I went. I went to USD". I remember one person even saying, "What's the difference". Mooney's picture in the SLC Tribune perfectly illustrates that. As for next year, or the year after or ten years down the road, who knows. All things are cyclical and you've been in a very good place the past few years and will probably remain for a few more. We're just entering a phase where our sports are on the rise and are going to be getting stronger and stronger. As a fan, it's fun to see. We'll be there in the near future which I'm sure will drive some of your people insane. As for the maturity of your fan base...give me a break. Every base has it's idiots, we have ours, but to me, in general, your base is the Donald Trump of sports fans. Some would probably take pride in that which illustrates my point perfectly.Welcome, great first post.
You couldn't be more right on the Trump comment. I love it. So true.
