wrj-- You're generally pretty rational for a state poster. Curious what the mood on the state fan board is regarding the men's play and loss against the Zags? I was surprised Daum and Tellie played poorly and that the Zags couldn't hit the broad side of a barn (pun intended) the first half. I will take that as a compliment, I think. Most of the posters seem fairly realistic. We all knew going in that Gonzaga was bigger, faster, and deeper than the rabbits. Shots were often contested, or at least rushed. When playing out of rhythm, even wide open shots sometimes go astray. We knew that it was possible to pull an upset. I don't know of anyone who thought it anywhere near probable. Congratulations on a good season for both men and women.

OMG!!!! Daum just got called for his first ever charging foul!!!! Called It! I know the bunnies are leading early but does anybody doubt how this will end? The "powers that be" will not allow it. Unless...Gonzaga isn't really "one of them". Listening to some guys on the radio last night they were all over the Zags, saying the WCC was weak, that they spent the last 17 years banking up easy wins, and that it was time to put up or shut up. Point being, the Power Brokers would never allow one of their P5 darlings to lose to a 16 seed, too damaging to the brand, but offering up the Zags as the first 1 seed to ever lose to a 16 seed. Kills two birds with one stone. We have history, and a darling to sell for March Madness and it takes Gonzaga down a peg, and on a lower level than P5 schools. End my conspiracy theory rant for the day, but if it happens...Called It! Woah. I bet you sleep with the lights on, don't you?

At one point the Jacks were up 27-14 but now in the third quarter Colorado is ahead 43-37. Quite a change in that one.

Now it is 49-39 Colorado. The Jacks just aren't that good this year. Their fans will never believe if though because according to many of them they were going to sail pretty far through this tourney. Even if they come back to win today, Iowa would be the ending point for them anyway.

56-45 Colorado with 6:45 to go in the 4th quarter.

SDSU ends the 4th quarter on a 15-5 run and it is going to overtime tied at 63. The lucky rabbit foot makes another appearance. According to the live scoring the Jacks missed two layups in the final seconds that would have won it for them. We will see if the rabbit foot is lucky again or not.

Well Colorado wins it 81-75 in Overtime. The Buffalos blew a late lead in regulation then after being up by 9 in OT allowed the Jacks to hit two threes in about 5 seconds but the Jacks good fortune finally ran out on them. This year alot of "well, that wasn't supposed to happen" quotes from up in Brookings. The Jacks absolutely should have won this game again a team barely over .500. I guess these are the kinds of things that happen when the fan base assumes way too much which is exactly what happened this year. Aaron Johnston is a good coach that did not do a good coaching job this year. Maybe it is time for him to move on.

Damn CF, seems a little harsh. Not that good this year? Time for AJ to move on? The lofty projections for state this year was when they had the best player in the conference on their team. When she got hurt the outlook changed. They finished a game out of first and 2nd round of nit. Maybe not what they were hoping for but it wasn't terrible. I wish AJ would move on, he's a good coach. I think both USD and state will be better next year.

I'll admit that I expected state to run away with the conference and make some noise in the NCAA tourney this year. They basically returned everyone from last year's near Sweet 16 team. I think at the end of day alot of people will look at this year as a lost year. They lose quite a bit, but then again we lost a ton coming into this year so I wouldn't be surprised to see them fighting for a championship next year

I just don't believe before the season started that you should be talking about and almost assuming a sweet sixteen birth, and even when the WNIT started some of them were almost assuming a deep run. I think they read their own press clipping a little too much this year. I think complacency can set in and maybe they didn't work as hard in the off season because of it. If they looked at themselves as underdogs or maybe under appreciated then that might drive them harder. I think next year will be an even net gain vs net loss. They gain Miller but lose Young and Ober. Western Illinois deserves to be favored next year.

Don't forget they add the former top-100 player Tagyn Larsen. She transferred in from Iowa and will have 3 years to play 3. She's a 6-2 forward, so will be a similar problem that teams had with the Ober-Thompson duo.
I'm not a Jacks fan, but 4 of their starters will be all-conference-type players. I think I like our bench a little better, at least at guard. I think WIU will and should be picked #1, but both SD schools will end the year in the top 2 IMO
