A redshirt year would do him wonders in development and strength conditioning -- needs to get bigger. Definitely looks like a baller!!!

Next year we will have two different sets of Men's/Women's players from the same high school: Norfolk, NE and Lincoln East, NE. The article practically writes itself.

Thanks for this. Nice to see a South Dakotan make good on the big stage.

That would be alright with me. Becky is from here in Rapid City and was a great talent at CSU and WNBA and now asst coach (first female in that role in the NBA) with the Spurs. We'd be happy to keep Craig or have Becky if necessary if he moves on!

I read that about Hammon and that would be great if it happened. Mostly because it would take Craig out of the picture there, but also I would like to see how she does. The article never really says whether it's something Becky would be interested in, just that Colorado st should be. I've heard from some people that Sam Griesel is the real deal, but it sounds like the consensus on the board is that it will take a redshirt year before he's ready to contribute.

That is really good on all fronts. I really like Becky and I hope she does really well if she is the one that gets that job. My well wishes for her have nothing to do with not wanted to lose Smith either although that would be an obvious bonus. I think from a break through stand point it is great for college basketball and CSU would probably get a little extra attention in a positive manner from it. I think that would be an excellent choice for CSU. Working along side Popovich I don't think CSU would have to worry too much about defense. Obviously it would be great to keep Smith. He still has unfinished business here before he can leave.

You think CSU would get a little extra attention? I would think it would be one of the biggest stories of the year in collegiate hoops.

I mean, there might be a few misogynistic, or old-fashioned dads that wouldn't want their kid to play for a woman coach. The net result (pun intended) would be an uptick in exposure and recruiting, IMO.

If I am Colorado State this is a slam dunk if Hammon wants the job and I am pretty sure she would. She is qualified times 10 for this position and has tudiledge from one of the best in the business.

I know it isn't out of the ordinary to have a man as a women's coach, but it would still add a little intrigue with the fact that R. Williams is the women's coach.

I think it is more circumstantial than needs based. We have a ton of depth at his position(s), no reason that he can't take a year to get bigger and more prepared, if he is willing.

Herbster needs to get on horn to see if USD can work out some type of arrangement to get Colorado State to come to the SCSC, men and women in a double header. Imagine Ryun Williams, Levin etc coming home and imagine Becky Hammond coming back to South Dakota. That might even be an ESPN worthy type game. Much intrigue involved but maybe it would take a little help from Sanford to have to settle for playing them in the Pentagon. If it would take a 2 for 1 deal for the Men to come than so be it. If this can happen USD needs to do everything in their power to further that idea into possible reality.

Several years back, USD played Wyoming out in Rapid and it drew well. I would think if CSU could be enticed into a game against the Coyotes in the Hills, it has the potential to draw big, bring the hometown girl back and develop interest in the Coyotes in the western, often overlooked, part of the state. Of course that's putting the cart before the horse because it's not like Hammon even has the job yet.

elcoyote--That is a great idea and yes USD alumni in the Black Hills would love the possibility! I was at the last USD vs WY men's game and the USD vs SDSM&T women's game. Was a great crowd and a lot of fun!!
