Almost woke my son up a few times during that game. As always, it's a great day to be a Yote.

post game comments from Coach P (hard to get her to sit down):
on season:
It takes a village. all the players that don't play much, trainers, managers, staff. Many nights without sleep. etc. The assistant coaches do an outstanding job. They keep the girls on schedule. The fans were so loud. Thanks to you, too.
These girls are so unselfish. It took a different strategy and different girls tonight to get the win than last time.
on game:
Tonight the message was: trust the offense and attack. Duffy was great on defense. etc.
The players made some adjustments that I had no hand in. They knew what they were doing. Sometimes you just have to get out of the way.
Jasmine was outstanding.
On tournament:
We are in a different situation than last year. more experienced players, more different game situations.

OMG I was thinking this was going to be the message about how the Jacks once against smashed the Coyotes dreams but not here, now now, not tonight. NCAA tourney berths are great and they are the ultimate goal but getting this undefeated conference record is the act of the Coyote Women's program punching the Summit League right in the nose. In all honestly I feel the Yotes got a little lucky tonight. They fought hard to come back and all the credit goes to the Coyotes but I do feel a little lucky as a fan that this night turned into a great one. The Jacks were the better team for their fair of the game tonight and I think the Coyotes were flatter than I figured they should be for quite awhile.
The Coyotes were gritty tonight when they got it going and I am glad the officiating let them play. It was especially important during the come back in the fourth quarter. This was the type of game that Trimboli and McKeever thrive in. They both love it physical and it was definitely physical. How about those clutch free thrown down the stretch by Lamb, McKeever and Arens. They missed a couple but nice free throw shooting in the clutch. I really thought Lamb's free throws were really important and she just gutted them. The fouls were Jacks 21, Coyotes 16. It was fairly even considering that the Jacks were forced to foul 2 or 3 times at the end. The Coyotes were allowed to be physical and that made a big difference.
I have had a chip on my shoulder as a fan (is that possible) all season regarding this team. It has really made me passionate through the conference season. This can never be taken away and how does 14-0 UNDEFEATED SUMMIT LEAGUE CHAMPS sound.

Very happy to be wrong on this game. What a comeback. Kudos to CF for saying home court would be a big factor and help carry the day for the yotes. I don't know if I was giving states women too much credit or not enough credit to our women but I thought we would lose by double digits at state and lose fairly close at home. Both teams are very good and both should be in the NCAA tournament, but I think only one will.

I did not foresee the Yotes having to dig out of a double digit hole at the end. I did not think it would be this high scoring. I didn't think the Jacks would score 75 on our defense. I am not surprised that it was physical but other than getting the correct winner right I failed on much of what I thought would happen.

Trimboli: 18pt/6reb/2asst/2blk/5stl!!! --shot 70%FG // 66.7%3PT // 100%FT
Bradley: 15pt/2asst ----------- 46%FG // 38%3PT // 100%FT ---- hit 3 3PTs
Duffy: 11pt/4reb/1asst/1blk - 67%FG // 33%3PT // 100%FT
Arens: 9pt/6reb/1asst/1blk/1stl
If Junkyard Jas doesn't win player of the week (consecutively), I'll eat my hat!

That was a fun game to watch! I know the officiating seemed a little uneven quite a few times, both on missed calls and on ghost calls. But all in all they did let them play, and the physical game helped our girls. And Taylor Frederick had one heckuva game!

I am actually going to give a little credit to Jacks fans for once. On their board they are not whining and crying like they usually do. They are taking this loss like adults and are actually giving credit to the Coyotes. Never thought I would see the day.
I cannot be more proud of our Women's Basketball program and how hard they have fought this season. After the Tulsa game there is no way anyone could have realistically thought the Coyotes would win the Summit let alone go undefeated. At the end of the Tulsa game (and please don't take this the wrong way) I was actually hoping the Coyotes would lose but ONLY because they needed a big time wake up call and that loss provided just that.

Great game. I was there and I thought the 4k attendance was pretty accurate, maybe a a little under. Seems like some students left towards the end. Overall the atmosphere was good and many people got up and cheered for the entire 4th quarter. State is obviously a good team, but what the Yotes did was very impressive. To go undefeated which hasn't been done since 94 I believe is awesome. Getting the #1 seed is very helpful to avoid WIU in the semi's. No matter how the regular season went if they get hot they are dangerous and I am glad the Yotes will avoid them. If USD and SDSU makes the finals and it is another close game, no matter who wins I feel the SL is a two bid league in WBB. I don't think the RPI is always a great indicator of worthy teams.

There hasn't been much talk about USD getting an at large bid but there are a couple of intangibles that I think the committee will look at that might help the Coyotes. At least help them not get their resume tossed in the trashcan in the first 5 minutes of the committee discussion. If they get to the Summit League final and I think the Coyotes will than they would be on a 20 game winning streak. They would also have finished 14-0 in league play. Those are two factors that could be helpful. The RPI might be a little on the weak side but the NCAA should like teams that are hot coming in.

With a win the Yotes will: Win Summit League outright for third time in four years. Take the #1 seed in the SL tournament. Become 2nd team to ever sweep the conference schedule (first since Northern Illinois in 93-94). Match the longest winning streak any Summit League team has ever had. Have wins in 3 of last 4, and 5 of last 7 games against bunnies. How about them Yotes?

Women's basketball is much different than men's in the fact that smaller schools can have a much better chance to have great teams who can compete against the "big dogs". Outside of USD and SDSU in the SL this year I don't see a great team. My point is over the last 5 years between us and sdsu, the SL have proven they should now be at leas heavily considered to be a two bid league in the given year. I still think the year the Yotes won the WNIT where we swept SDSU in the regular season and lost in the SLT, it should have been a two bid league. SD teams have shown they can flat out play and beat any team on a given night. I think this women's team deserves more respect nationally and will finally get it with a birth in the tourney.

Lots of thoughts on this game: *the bunnies were unable to capitalize in the fourth quarter when there was a 4 to 0 foul differential. They got zero points off that if I recall correctly. To me that's huge because I thought they'd salt the game away at the line, but for some reason they got passive on offensive and just kind of stood around waiting for Miller to do something. *They shot 62 % in the first half and we were still in the lead. Increased that % in the third quarter, but then ended up at 50% for the game. Curious as to what their fourth quarter % was. (now know it was 18%) *One game I know, but does Alexander even need to be guarded? As soon as I ask that, she'll probably go off in the SLT. *Our depth is better than theirs. *this is one mentally tough team *Who gets Summit player of the year? Duffy? Trimboli? I would think an undefeated conference champ would have to have that player on their roster. *keep recruiting Aussie players? Yes, please. *If these ladies have the lead and the other team is forced to foul, game, set, match. Chloe Lamb...a freshman...pure ice. * game was basically even first half, they outplayed us in the 3rd quarter, but then we owned the fourth. Pat yourselves on the back crowd and way to respond ladies. If we meet them again in the SLT it will be another barnburner. No matter what, undefeated conference champs! These two teams seem to be so far out ahead of everybody else in the Summit and I really don't see that changing in the next few years.
