For as much size as Michigan State will bring to the game, they are led by a couple of smaller guards: Shay Colley #0 5'-9" Redshirt-Soph Guard 11.7 points / 4.7 Rebounds / 4.2 assists 1.4 Asst/TO / 1.9 steals 40/21/75 shooting Voted co-MVP of team, and Defensive POY by teammates. Honorable Mention All-B1G. She missed 7 games with a knee injury at the end of the regular season. The team was 1-7 in her absence. Since her return she is scoring 15.2 PPG. Originally a top recruit, she played her freshman season at South Carolina. Taryn McCutcheon #4 5'-5" Soph Guard 10.0 points / 2.3 Rebounds / 5.6 Assists2.2 Assist-TO / 1.6 Steals 38/ 37/76 shooting An East Lansing hometown player, she has been a starter for two years, and plays 34 minutes a game! Number-4 is #3 in assists in the Big Ten, and already #14 on the all-time list in assists at Michigan State! In her last 5 games she is averaging 3.4 3-pointers per game. She was voted co-MVP of her team, and Honorable Mention All-B1G. Her size and stats remind me a little of Emily Clemens.

President Abbott just made a pledge to pay for every single students ticket for the women’s game tomorrow night. That gesture alone should pack the student section as a way to say thank you to a great President The students get in for free whether the athletic department pays or the president does from his own pocket, right? I hope they appreciate the gesture and pack the joint but I don't know if this moves the needle for them. It does add to his legacy in my mind though. I hope we can find a replacement for him who is even half as dedicated to USD.

I have to think though, that the $1,600+ paid each year in "general activity fees" should cover some of it; which I'm sure is the case for regular season, but likely not post season as you have mentioned.

... I looked again at the seat map for sold tickets, and I'm guessing there are right at around 2,000 sold, not counting the students, band, or any walk-in sales. I hope we can push the number over 3k, but I'm skeptical after seeing all the returned season ticket allotment/first option.... I looked again, and I'm estimating 2,300 -2,400 sold seats, not including the east bleachers (students and band). The courtside and club are ------100% full The North middle sections are ----95% full The South middle sections are 85-90% full The corners are --------------------20% full The west bleachers are ------------10% full I haven't counted every seat, so my estimate could be off quite a bit. Suffice to say it should be a good crowd. Likely close to 3K, with the middle sections full. When we had 4k for the women, and 5K for the men, that place was off the chain! Correct me if I'm wrong, but the difference between 2k and 3K is big in that arena, with the low ceiling.

I hope the crowd is loud and rocking tonight! The women play with such passion and effort that they deserve all the support they can get. They certainly represent USD well!

It really is a pleasure to watch these kids compete. How could anyone not be a fan? I think/hope the crowd can surprise Michigan State with the size and intensity that we bring. One comment on their board said we were a lonely state with nothing but farms and ranches. I don't think I'll be lonely in the arena tonight.

Massey predictions for possible matchups: USD hosting Michigan State:USD wins 71-69 with 54% chance of winning (MSU wins 67-72 with 66% chance if @ MSU) Update on Massey Prediction (after MSU beat Toledo) USD wins 71-67 with a 60% chance of winning (MSU wins 67-71 with a 61% chance if @ MSU) so basically it is a toss-up, with hosting the game making the difference. Should be a competitive game either way.

Meh. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are plenty of ugly, lonely and depressing places in Michigan. Acres of abandoned buildings in Detroit, Flint, Lansing, etc. High rates of crime and poverty in the inner cities. The U.P. is gorgeous, but so are the Badlands and Black Hills. Plenty to like in both places. I'm fine with them thinking they are better, though. Nothing we haven't heard before.

Detroit...Flint...depressing? Hard to believe. An Easterner's concept of geography and distance seems to be a bit lacking once they cross the Mississippi River.

Here's another fun fact: USD's Women's basketball team is the only Division-1 team in either the men's or women's from the seven-state area that is still playing basketball.
That would be South Dakota, and all six bordering states. The closest programs would be Northern Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, and two Chicago schools. You could add Wisconsin and Idaho too, I think. That's a large swath of the North-Central part of the country.

I can't believe we are only down by 3 at half after being down by as much as 16.

I was not able to watch the first half and I am now trying to log in to the Midco Guest account. It keeps giving me this message "The maximum number of logins per hour have been reached for this user. Please try again after 5 minutes." Anyone else having troubles?
Edit: promised my dad last week I would help him move his new cabinets. Hopefully everyone else is there.
