Seriously? Did this program desecrate an Indian burial ground during the offseason? Poltergeist?

I was expecting about a 15 point loss with TBM in the lineup, so it ended up about where I thought. Need to be able to make open 3 pointers if you want to beat a good team that are playing a soft 2-3 zone. Umude looks great and I love that he goes right at Daum. Won't get Daum to get more then 2 fouls in SF or brookings. Flatten came to play and Arens made some big shots with his funky looking lefty shot. Crowd was out of it after 2OT women's game, looked like quite a few left.

I heard Joe say on the radio before that game that Trey could've been used in an emergency tonight, so maybe it isn't as bad as we think? I don’t think that was the case. TBM has a stress fracture in his foot. Very painful. I feel bad for him

If I were a sports gambler, yes I would have jumped all over that spread.

Here's something from the post-game:
Q: Can you envision a way that this team can be better by the end of the year? I know you've been assaulted by all these injuries and misfortunes...
Lee: Yeah. We can get better. Obviously we gotta get Red back. Stan... when I tell you he's learning the game, he is literally just learning the game. You can see he's got a lot of ability. But every day in practice, there's things you are teaching him that are very elementary. Because he just hasn't played. So he can get better and better. And he wants to. He's a good kid.
Tristan and Cody and TP, .... you know, Dan can get in better shape. Matt Johns, he's learning the game, but he can get better. He's had a back injury, he's had a shoulder injury, he's had an ankle injury... so he's missed a lot of practice. So hopefully he can stay healthy.
And then Nate Robinson's a freshman too. So I think we can get better. You know. Being healthy, that would help. Just having guys around in practice, where you can have those repetitions. We can get better. We've got young guys. They can get better. We've just gotta stay healthy.

Q: Are you worried at all about the team's confidence right now?....
Lee: You know, you always worry about that as a coach when you lose so many close games. We've lost six games by six points or less. Those six point games we lost were to Baylor and NDSU. Every other one was a one-possession game with a minute to go. At NDSU it was a one-point game with 20 seconds to tie it. Baylor, we had numerous opportunities to win that game.
You do worry about it. When you lose a lot of close games, you worry about your COACHES confidence. Seriously. I've coached thousands of games. And I've won a high percentage at every level I've been at. But when you start losing, ... you're a human being. You've gotta figure out a way to win close games.
And the bottom line for us is that ... we've got great kids, and they work hard, (but) we don't have a go-to guy, offensively. And you guys know that at the end of a game, you need a guy that can just get a bucket.
(for example) You're watching Fort Wayne play NDSU, and at the end of the game, Konchar just dribbles the ball for 18 seconds, and then he just steps back and hits a 25-foot 3. You know? I'm sorry, but that's not good offense. They just have got guys that can make shots. State has guys that can make shots at the end of a shot clock. Great shots. Or, they've got a post player they can throw it to.
So we keep trying to reinvent what we can do toward the end of games. And figure that out. Cause, I think a lot of the games in the Summit are gonna be close. Now this wasn't one tonight, but as you guys have seen, a lot of them are close. And we've gotta be able to make plays at the end of a game, and make baskets.
Defensively, we gotta keep battling. We're not very big. Our guys are trying, but I think they wear down a little bit. Yeah. You worry about it (confidence) a little bit. Our guys are a pretty resilient group. We just gotta keep working.

Question for those that attended:
Legitimate sell-out? Any empty seats (at the women's game)?
There are some claiming as many as 25% empty seats on the Bunny board, but to me it looked like the place was packed top to bottom. I could possibly see the student section having some bare spots?
Obviously we had a problem with people staying through the men's game, but that is a separate question.
I'll just chalk it up to sour grapes, I guess.

There were very few empty seats during the women's game. The only significant area of open seats during the women's game, was the student section, which was only about 2/3 full at the start of the game. However as students rolled into town after Christmas break, the student section was pretty much full by the end of the women's game.

Amazing turnout for an amazing game. Even Zimmer was impressed:

Maybe he was able to succeed in the sport without a lot of good coaching or instruction as a kid. Recruits that are undeveloped are sometimes passed on by Power 5 schools, and are seen as a steal for mid-majors. The problem there is that you still have to put the time into development. I like that Lee is a developmental coach. All speculation on my part, of course.
