Missed a lot of shots in the paint because of their length. You’d think Coach P would change our strategy.

Made a bit of a run late, but definitely too late and MSU had the answer. Ugly game to watch on our part. Credit to Missouri State. They had the gameplan for success and executed it. They weren't giving us anything under the basket. Couldn't count on points from anyone, anywhere on the floor really. Can't help but feel this team was capable of a lot more tonight, but that was an excellent team that came in and made the Yotes look tame on their home court.
This schedule had to catch up to us eventually, but still it sucks to lose to anyone at home. Go pick up the pieces in Vegas.

They're probably just a little bit better team right now if we're honest about it. That said, there are positives to be taken from the fact that outside of Arens and Korngable nobody played worth a shit and you still only lost 74-66 against the No. 1 mid-major in the country.

But they are really good, and their ball pressure and bigs make it tough.

Felt like we were playing Green Bay and UND simultaneously. Very physical game, and called loosely.

It's a game like this that makes me wonder if Alison Arens meant more to our offense than I realized. It seemed like when no one else was able to get anything going we could count on her to make something happen. We didn't have anyone like that tonight.

Felt like we were playing Green Bay and UND simultaneously. Very physical game, and called loosely. This is where we really struggled tonight, I thought. Missouri State came out in the first half, especially in the first quarter, and played an extremely physical brand of ball that was called loosely and we didn't adjust. We started getting physical after halftime but then the second half the game was called much tighter and, again, we didn't adjust. Very few fouls or free throws in the first half but MSU shot something like 13/16 in the third quarter, many from the bonus. They did a much better job of recognizing and playing to how it was being officiated. Smart basketball. No shame in losing to them though. That was a very talented, well balanced team they put on the court.

I'm not real surprised with the result tonight. We darn near had about 4 losses coming into this game and I felt like this was the best team we have played yet. It was going to take one of our better games to win this thing, and we certainly did not get that. Despite some good wins and a good record I just do not feel the team has performed to the level I expected coming into the season. I think maybe I just had too high of expectations. I pictured us as a team that would be about 18-22 in the nation. I can't say we have performed to that level. I still think we are a really good team and capable of knocking off those kind of teams on any given night. I love the schedule the women have been playing in the preconference. Those should be some fun games this year with Drake and Missouri St. O give Miss st the slight edge.

Coach P put together a brutal preconference schedule this year. The entire team needs to play well in order to win these tough games. That didn't happen last night as a couple of key contributors had off nights. They can get away with that with some teams on their schedule, but not the really good ones like Missouri State. This streak of challenging teams will prepare them well for the conference schedule as well as post season, which I'm certain is what Coach P had in mind.
It was great to see Claudia, Jeniah and Liv get quality minutes last night as bench strength will be key as they get into the conference grind. Anyone have any idea if Alexi will be playing much once she is healthy, which it sounds like she is getting close to being able to go?

I would like to commend South Dakota's team they are gritty, talented and dont quit. In the end I think Mo State's length, strength and ability to attack the paint and rim along with their ability to make it tough on the opponents best players to score efficiently were the difference. Willard is our leading scorer but Calip is by far our most valuable player. South Dakota will be well prepared for the rest of the season and to make a run in the NCAA. IMO for South Dakota to get to the next level it must recruit a playmaking point guard. Best of luck the rest of the year

One of the signed recruits for next season, Maddie Krull, is the 71st overall and 21st rated point guard in ESPN's rankings for this year's class.

It didn't help that the shots Duffy did get inside she was short on most of them. IMO Miss. St. MVP was #32 Franklin. So many rebounds were either controlled or tipped by her it was frustrating. I couldn't believe how many inside shots that were missed by the Yotes, but a lot of that had to do with Franklin. Willard is a tough and smart player. She killed us with her three point shooting. Was a great game, it actually felt like MSU won by more than the score showed.

I'm always impressed that we have our athletes do the post-game presser, win or lose. Some programs, especially P-6 ones let the coaches or players decline interviews after tough losses. I like the character it takes from our athletes to get up and discuss the game after a loss. Leadership skills.
