In realtimerpi yesterday Mo State had a RPI of 5, losing only to Oregon State(1st in RPI) away after leading by 8 midway through the 3rd quarter I think 52 was their RPI from last year. Last year they started the season 1-7 and then lost only 3 games after that. They return all but one player from last year's Sweet 16 team, but still start only 1 senior Dating back to the last 4 games of last year they have played 6 ranked opponents all on the road or on neutral courts and have won 4 of the games by an average of 11 points and have lost 2 games by an average of 10 points to Stanford and Oregon State, both ranked in the top 7. They will be a handful but it should be a great game that could go either way. they actually play better away from home than they do at home. . Last year they beat Drake 2 out of the 3 times they played. No doubt that Gonzaga, Mo State, Drake and South Dakota are 4 really good mid-major teams that can play with the big boys but usually get ripped off in rankings and NCAA seedings, except to some extent Gonzaga which gets a little more respect. I am a Mo. State fan but I also am a fan of mid-majors and am really impressed by South Dakota's team and their resilience and grit. I am looking forward to the game

Welcome to the board bigred. I’m not sure our fan base is aware of just how good Missouri State is. Our chat room basketball peeps have done a good job getting us ready for the game. I watched MSU play Oregon State in the WNIT final. They were leading till I tuned in. Your gals play really fast paced game. Lots of cutting. I’m hopeful it’s a great game.
Come back and chime in

Come back and chime in I don't want to be a troll or intrude on your board I just thought a few facts and observations might be interesting to your fan base and help hype the game so that South Dakota fans will get out on a Monday night and watch what should be an interesting game between two really good teams. By the way the RPI at this point in the year is really crazy and some of the RPIs are extremely puzzling and questionable including Missouri State's RPI of 5.

Welcome to the board, big red! Normally I’ll do a bit of stat analysis before our bigger games (and this most definitely is big). With the fall/winter sports overlap, there is a lot going on, so I haven’t been able to do it.
I did just watch a little of the Santa Clara game, and I agree that you guys play fast. Quick possessions, quick and decisive passing and shooting. Find the open man and take the shot. Nothing exotic. Just playing with urgency and energy.
This should be a fun game to watch.

Big red is right about The RPI. #52 was their final ranking from last year. The “official” RPI hasn’t come out yet this year. There is a reason for that, because with so little data so far, the numbers are not accurate, and wildly fluctuate.
There are sites that simulate the RPI, which is easy to do since the formula is so simple. RealtimeRPI updates several times a day, but I have seen mistakes entered in W/L that mess up the numbers. WarrenNolan is a much better site for simulated RPI. Really, it isn’t worth looking at this early though. Mo State is #8, and Oregon is #152... Mo State is playing a tough non-con, and will enhance our RPI, win or lose. Of course I’d rather win.

In the AP poll, both USD and Mo St are just outside of a ranking. In the Coaches Poll Mo St is #22 and we are just outside at #28. This should be a boost for either winning team in those polls. Big opportunity.

Speaking of 'urgency', I thought our guards played with a much better sense of urgency against Missouri. Still a couple lackadaisical passes that were easy steals, but it was much more crisp than the previous games. Hope that trend continues Monday.
Bigred5876 - any insights you can share about the hot start after losing your coach and your top scorer from last year? It makes the start even more impressive.

A quick look at Mo St’s stats reveals a high-efficiency shooting team that gets a lot of assists(good ball movement), and gets into a lot of high # of possession games. Shootouts. Think Denver, but without the transition game.

Watching the game, Mo St can hit shots all over the court, but it seemed like a lot of the makes were from mid-range. High % shots.
Their defense is active, but they are undersized. I think we can score with our bigs. Will be interesting to see if we go big or small. Nice to have options.
We will need to play disciplined on defense with MSU’s speed.

Big opportunity. I think the Drake game showed that the opportunity is minimal when it comes to the polls. One team will move up a spot or two and the other will fall several spots. Luckily, the polls don't actually mean anything.

Mo State did lose their coach who is a class person and was successful last yea a lot of people understandably thought that the team might be hurt by losing new coach. However most fans now believe that our new coach is actually an upgrade maybe a big one over coach harper gitzen was lost and the leading scorer at 12 poi ts on the team. Her loss was big but her replacement at point guard was a top 150 recruit out of high school and is a talented sophomore. Other players like willard and gardner have stepped up their game to another level. Their 4 freshmen from last year are now sophomores and the four sophomores are now juniors. Last years team at the end consisted of a 10 play as yer rotation with 8 of the players being freshmen and sophomores. This team is talented but they are the most resilient team I have ever seen. To me their defense is not where it was at the end of last year. Three point shooting g is a strength of South Dakota but mo state does not defend the 3 point that well IMO. Inside Mo State can be dominating and more than held their own against Oregon State who started 6"6 and 6'4 and brought others just as big off the bench. If SD can not get dominated touch inside and on the boards their 3 point shooting may win the game for them. Mo state has better athletes and SD has better shooters although Willard is a great shooter but not ay all a good athlete. Sorry for the long post

No kidding, great information. My only criticism might be that paragraphs really helps our readers. Great stuff.
If the Lady Bears’ defense is tough on the inside, we may need to stretch it out a little with our arc shooting
