My takeaways from this game for whatever they're worth: 1. Umude is turning into an absolute force on the offensive end. Ft. Wayne tried a bunch of different tactics to try and guard him and nothing worked 2. I really feel for Jech. Poor kid can't catch a break. Seems like he's been injured every season he's been here. 3. This team really plays hard and must be in great shape. Six players combined for 196 of the 200 minutes and two played all 40. 4. All four seniors on this team are now in or have been in a boot this season. Just unreal. 5. Ft Wayne played man the entire game and after the success SDSU had with a zone I thought that might be a look that would be thrown at us more. 6. With the defensive intensity they bring they'll be competitive in every game. Might not win them all, but they'll keep it interesting. Bottom line: the old cliche "you're never as bad as you seem after a loss, nor as good as you seem after a win" applies here, the State game and this one being perfect examples, but as a fan you really have to appreciate these players. Despite all the adversity that they've been hit with, they continue to play hard and bust their asses. It's fun to watch and easy to root for. For Powers, Jech and Burch-Manning's sake I hope they heal up and get to finish out their careers with a flourish. Agreed. I would add that credit is also due to Lee and his coaching staff. They had the players prepared for PFW and they executed a good game plan. Also liking the more uplifting tone of Coach Lee (win or lose), and in my opinion, the stronger buy-in from the players. It is going to be extremely difficult to get this level of performance out of 7 guys for the balance of the season because they will wear down at some point. However, I do recall Boots going with a short rotation for much of his history. Anyway, a very enjoyable and well earned victory!

My untrained eye says Lee got more of his men than did the CSU coach. Not going to compare talent on the floor but the Yotes earned it.

Don't count on anything from me. I don't understand volleyball rules or statistics at all. Meh. I’m no expert, either. I don’t really understand any of the rules of rotation/ substituting/ strategy etc. I don’t understand some of the calls, like double hits. It’s still a fun sport to watch, though. The scoring happens about as frequently as in basketball, so it’s great for low-attention-span idiots like me. I am a novice fan, meaning I don't understand many of the rules but I do enjoy watching the games. It started with watching granddaughter's Embe games (rather painful) but as she progressed thru middle school it became quite entertaining. In addition to granddaughter's games, I now watch all of the Yote games I can and will watch the Huskers and other top rated teams on tv. Volley ball has a lot of athletic plays but also some subtle nuances that take a while to appreciate. Guess I can say the same about soccer, don't understand the rules but this past season I watched a lot of the Yote's games. That Yote program appears to be coming on as well. kiyoat, I appreciate your Yote VB coverage!

It’s amazing how many people go to a game and it’s like they’re at church. Agreed. Way too many people with their arses firmly planted to watch the game when they could be a part of the game and help determine its outcome.

Does anyone think the altitude will affect our guys? I know when NFL teams play at mile high they have oxygen available and prepare to play at that altitude. I know Ogden is not mile high in Denver but could it be an issue. Thoughts? Coach was asked this question and didn't see it as a problem. Altitude somewhere around 4,500 feet. Checked the weather and at kickoff temp should be low 80s, winds about 12 mph, and humidity about 10%. I like that last one!

The two deep roster posted in the game notes for K State. I count 4 freshman, including 2 OL, in the group. Interesting. Is it a credit to great recent recruiting, some injury issues or something else?
