Here's another guess: Lily Hansford. I think her dad might be one of the likes, too, along with some Green Bay-area recruits.

Great work, 90! No guarantee you are right, but here are some links for Milana: Milana Nenadic, 6-3 ForwardKitchener, Ontario, CAN U16 Team Canada National team Maine (redshirted in '23, played limited minutes in '24) twitter.com/milana_nenadicgoblackbears.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/milana-nenadic/11081I am a little confused reading the Maine Bio with regard to her HS and Team Canada play, and in what year. It says she both graduated HS and played Team Canada and played at Maine in 2023? I think the HS and college set-up in Canada is quite different from the US. One advantage to that is getting older, more experienced players that can still have 5 years to play 4 in the NCAA.

Looks like the 2024 class must have come to campus recently. I seem to recall some similar photos from the 2023 class at the end of the school year. Great way to get them amped up for the coming offseason training! x.com/SDCoyotesVB/status/1780689395005239531I have to imagine Morgan Bode will get pushed into a contributing role right away, with our 5th-year twin towers graduating at the MB positions. Maybe she will start? Amelia Dugger will be healthy, so she is another wild-card. The competition will be fierce at the three starting hitter positions, where we have some established starters in Sealock, Laird and Loschen, but the incoming freshmen are highly ranked, and probably not wanting to redshirt... I'm pretty excited about the depth at OH and DS/L. Losing Harms is no small thing, but this could be another good season.

...it was necessary and serves to diminish the illegal tampering that went on before...This is an important point. Both in terms of transfers and also in terms of athletes being able to be compensated. The top athletes in football and men's basketball have often been involved in illegal recruiting practices and bribing/ compensation for many many years. Bringing it out into the open and deregulating it just makes it more fair to the coaches and athletes that were following the rules.

These numbers could change in the next couple of weeks, of course. I took the minutes played from official stats, the transfers from Verbalcommits.com and the Graduating seniors from team website articles about senior day. So some of it might not be accurate. Some schools celebrate 4-year seniors, and then the player comes back for a 5th.
Also, there could be some "retiring" players between now and the season. So maybe I'll revisit the numbers in the Fall or over the Summer.

Honestly, when you look at things from a "minutes lost" to graduation and transfer.... The Yotes aren't in that bad a situation! A few of our transfers out never saw the court this year. If our coaches can convince Holt to come back, we might be right up there with KC and NDSU in terms of stability. Maybe higher.
If we are counting Honorable mention All-Conference players along with first and second-teamers, that makes two returning from the Summit. Not a bad situation for the Yotes. Kaleb Stewart likely has people in his ear, telling him to transfer. And yet he is still with the Yotes...
When you consider that we finished in the last place of a poor mid-major conference... the fact that we have (so far) only lost a handful of players, (most of them non-contributors) this staff has these kids believing. That's impressive. Look at the exodus from ORU as an example.

There can be improvements made, but if it doesn't result in less interest and less revenue, then it hasn't ruined college basketball. And I don't think it will. My feeling is that my interest in having more stable rosters should not override player autonomy. I disagree. The combination of the transfer portal and NIL, both being totally unchecked at this point, have bastardized any semblance of amateurism that the NCAA used to prioritize. It also all but guarantees we'll never see a true star player wear a coyote uniform for more than a year or two. There's good and bad. I do think there needs to be some control, but the NCAA has lost control of conferences and Universities a long time ago. They are self-policing in many areas. It is what it is. Plus, you are not acknowledging what was bad about the previous system. Coaches and Universities had a huge amount of control over student athletes. In many cases, coaches could block you from transferring to specific schools, or even from being allowed to transfer at all. Now with more autonomy and ability to transfer, some of that control is back in players' hands. That forces coaches to look at relationships between them and players differently. Mutual respect is better than one side having all the control. And I'm in favor of that.

Is this team just totally adverse to the thought of recruiting high school talent? The goal seems to be to pick up everyone else's retreads. I think you have to look at the larger trends here. NCAA D-1 has changed significantly in recent years with regard to portal use. I think that this current Coyote staff has done an admirable job trying to get quality HS kids from the region compared with the previous staff. And also compared to our conference foes (other than NDSU and SDSU). If you want to be competitive you have to see these trends and play the portal skillfully. You can't judge today's recruiting strategies with the past. JMO. Nothing is easy, but I think our staff is doing everything they can to get competitive. Win the transfer season. Win the HS recruiting season, win the offseason training, win the non-con season, win the conference season, win the tournament season. The wheel never stops turning.
