Can't blame her for wanting to go to Nebraska. She's giving up a bright future at USD for a shot at cracking the lineup in Lincoln. I hope she thinks things through before making her official decision. I could be reading this wrong but this makes it sound like Nebraska is much better than USD. I think both teams beat Creighton by a few points, UNI beat Nebraska by a couple of points and USD won by about the same margin in the WNIT and I think Minnesota killed Nebraska and USD beat Minnesota. The Illinois scores might make it look like Nebraska is better but that is about it. This doesn't take into account weather the games were at home or away so it could be a little off because USD might of had a couple of more home games but the teams aren't that far from each other. You could say that USD losses arguably their best player in their history and their best class ever but they still have plenty of talent. I could be off on some of this but it should be close. Nebraska was a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament a few years ago. Anyone who says the Nebraska job isn't a step up from USD (or SDSU) is living in a bubble

Yes, I believe she'll just be forced to redshirt her first year I am no expert, but my thought is if she is released from her NLI before practicing with the team or attending classes, she can then play for another team without sitting out a year. Wouldn't that kinda defeat the purpose of an NLI?

hmmm, wonder why she is leaving? Not sure about a reason but she also said on that post that she's transferring to Washington University in St. Louis (Division 3)

They did it without Briante Weber, who was signed by the Miami HEAT a few weeks ago. Pretty impressive. I still have difficulty getting excited to watch D-League basketball, though. They need to pony up and pay the players more to keep them from going overseas to get a paycheck. Imagine if Sioux Falls picked up Wolters...

Interesting comments from Zimmer in the SDSU chat today. When asked who he thought the top 3 next year would be for men's and women's hoops. He said that the SDSU men would be in the top 4 and how he listed them seemed to think they would be 2nd. new coach, many player losses, sound familiar to another conference champ of the opposite gender. Here is what he said on the Women's side. "Women SDSU are a clear favorite. Maybe WIU and IUPUI after that?" Obviously an omission of USD on the Women's side. He must really be down on the Coyotes next year. But of course as biased as he is towards SDSU they are in the same situation as a less dominant co conference champ but he doesn't expect them to miss much of a step at all. He's never come across as biased to me.

Obviously from past history my comments don't necessarily please or agree with the masses. Considering the status of this program if I were to give this hire a ranking from 1-10 I would give it a 5. If she would have been hired straight from Michigan it would have probably been a 8 or 9. The last 4 years does lower the excitement level. I believe Northern Kentucky transitioned to D1 the same year or very close to when USD did. I don't use that as a legit crutch as to give NKU any kind of a pass because it didn't hurt Amy Williams or Ryun Williams. Time will tell if this was the right hire, it's just my opinion that we could have done better. NKU is basically a fringe WBI program as it stands now. That doesn't shout greatness to me but rather just a little above average. Her time with Grand Valley was impressive though so she gets high marks for that. Overall she is good but recent just so so. If I'm reading it correctly, they didn't begin their transition until 2012, so that means they must be in their final transition year, correct?

Why are top-25 wins the only benchmark? 64-25=39. The top-25 doesn't even make up half of the tournament field I never said only top 25 games or wins was the only benchmark. I used that type of a game as an example. I know, that's what AJ said.

So,he decommits from Morningside and walks on at USD. After a year he's leaving USD and going back to Morningside. That's a little weird. Does Coach GATA have a revolving door in his office? JK I am making an assumption on a return to Morningside. I could very easily be off on his destination. Again, a walk-on. I found it interesting that he dressed for most games, but never saw the court. He received pretty solid reviews from practice before the season started. I suspect with Flack healthy, Sparks healthy, then Jech, Hagedorn and now Burch-Manning, he didn't see any available minutes coming his way. As you know, these things happen. Regardless of the coaching change, you guys were going to lose Devine and Doyle. One goes back home and the other goes down a level. Devine probably would have been a solid rotation player, but I doubt anybody blames him for his decision. Is that a fair assessment? FWIW, his Twitter bio says "Morningside Basketball"

Now,we can hope for a better selection....cause, the one selected is never good enough.....silver lining opportunity here.... USD has become a very good mid major job and deserves a very good candidate, not an average run of the mill coach that hovers just a little above .500 in their current job. It's time to capitalize on what has been built and the direction we are going. Now is not the time to take a step back, which admittedly is going to be hard to avoid with the heights the program has reached. There should be plenty of attractive candidates to choose from one would think. I believe they're just transition to Division 1 so it's not as bad as you think

Some details have come out about Amy's contract at Nebraska - Six year deal at $575,000 a year - Unlike Connie Yori's contract, Amy Williams will not be provided any country club memberships or vehicles/vehicle stipends. The university is moving forward to eliminating these types of perks from all their contracts. Yori's country club memberships were discontinued two years ago and the value was simply added to her salary. - Yori's contract also allowed for her husband to travel at university expense to away games and other functions related to the job. Williams' contract does not include those travel provisions for her husband, but university policy does allow for some university-paid spousal travel even if it is not mandated in the contract - Williams would be required to pay a $200,000 buyout if she resigns to take another job, Yori had no such provision in her contract. - If Williams is fired without cause, she would be paid $25,000 a month for each of the remaining months on her contract. That amount could be reduced depending on the salary of her next job. Thanks for the insight!
