With COVID impacting the NCAA rules and regs you have players that would have used up their eligibility are still on teams with 1 to years left of eligibility. Teams are stocked up with players so the transfer portal has a record breaking numbers of eligible players. COVID set recruiting needs back and so it is not easy to get on with a team at the FBS level and or the FCS level. They don’t need to use the portal, their team numbers are maxed out. I do think Kai will get a shot at the FCS level but he will have to grab whoever shows the most interest and offers a full scholarship as soon as the opportunity arises.

It’s simple the approach of making the players fit the scheme and execute is not working. The coaches need to identify and create the scheme to fit the players they have.

There are very talented players on the team. Bob is capable of coaching winners. I believe that there is no fire and the leadership is absent. For some reason the team is not fired up when they take the field and they don’t collectively have an aggressive edge while playing. There a few players that show fire an aggression but to win games you need 11 players to be hungry. They need to figure out how to get this team mentally prepared and fired up! The OL is simply out of shape, it’s obvious they get tired and wear down. That is expected in the first few games after not playing football for so long. The bottom line is get some fire in these guys before games and have them come out ready to dominate!

I've been pretty consistent in saying that humans, especially Americans, are so arrogant in our belief that we can control mother nature. This is a virus and it's going to work it's way through the population no matter what we do. We need to live our lives and get back to normal. The side effects of the shutdowns and cancellations are worse than the damn virus. The whole point in taking measures to mitigate was to keep the numbers under control so that we can treat the sick. Looking at the mortality rates I'd say we've done a good job. Positive tests are up because testing is up. Wasn't that a goal, increased testing? Now we point at positive tests and scream that we have to stop the virus. Arrogance to think we can stop it. Statistically speaking you have a very low chance of dying from this thing. For college students the number is so small it's not worth discussing. Under the age of 65 you have a better chance of dying in an auto accident (1 in 106) than of dying from Covid. The entire overreaction to this thing has been ridiculous. But I'm on board now just to see how insane it can get. Let's shut it all down. Watch the misery index go through the roof and the people just explode eventually. No alcohol involved with this post but I've had a crappy day so that is about to change.

Also Micah Roane a DE that was a walk on for Minnesota. I read he had got himself in a bit of typical teenage trouble but is grateful for a second chance at USD.

Now to talk about the actual game. I think the Yotes have a good chance to start the season 1-0. I was reading the ISU preview and they is many questions when it comes to their defense and offense. The strongest group they have according to college news is their linebackers. When I say we have a good chance, that does include having a QB that is solid. If the coaches haven’t decided who the starting QB is, they are going to only have a short amount of time to evaluate the competition. I would think they have to have an idea?

I agree with Yote 53 and Coyote fan. I do not believe our citizens ordinary freedoms should be impacted. We should be given the freedoms to do what is suggested by health officials to keep ourselves from getting infected with this virus. Yes we need to be cautious, there truly is a pandemic, but we need to resume back to life with our liberties as US citizens. I still do not understand the 6 foot distancing when it is a fact that aerosols droplets can travel 20 feet. Also, wearing a mask alone does not protect your eyes. I think the masks and social distancing is just make others feel better that are panicked about this virus. I hear over and over, at retail stores, restaurants etc. The staff is only wearing the masks so patrons feel safer to regain and retain them as customers. We need to practice the suggested hygiene, truly we should of been practicing this always anyway. I find it very odd that a second wave is being predicted to happen barring health experts and researchers limited knowledge of this virus. Something to think about😊

None of us including Levi will know If this decision was a good one until the football season is over. Do you go to the Huskers to say you were an alumni but you get zero to minimal targets? Do you stay at USD and have a heck of a chance to compete and maybe be the number 1, 2 or 3 receiver? I think Levi definitely has the potential to be an outstanding receiver but I don’t think I would trade a scholarship for a walk on. I don’t know why he left but I do wish him the best and hope he does not regret leaving USD.

I think a 4 start is perfect! More time to tailgate and for those like me traveling from out of town. It’s a nice balance between a day and a night game. I do like a sprinkle of night games in there as well. I think 2 is too early. I am not sure what is best for the players though and that is the most important!

Looking at the roster we are a bit light on receivers. Hopefully there are some transfers in the works🙏🏼 Does anybody have any insight on the receiving crew?

I haven’t heard anything but a Freshman at this level making the jump from HS , I would have to say it will be one of the others. I think it’s going to be a battle. What will be interesting is if an FBS QB signs with USD this off season like Strevy did. This would bring the competition to an even higher level.
