Two questions: Are you as concerned about all the professors who have moved on, staff that has been released, programs that have been cut and businesses in McComb that have been affected as you are about losing your football coach who you didn't like anyway? Were you concerned about Tyler Yelk's feelings when he had the job jerked out from under his nose? Yelk deserved the job. That was botched. Illinois is corrupt we are laying off teachers, buy my wife's cousin that works for the state making 160K a year with no college degree just retired at 52 with a full pension. Cronyism and Nepotism are the norm, as is corruption. How Western was able to get Charlie Fischer from Richmond is a God send. But, yes people were pretty fucking outraged when Yelk didn't get the job initially. God Damn that was just so unbelievably stupid. Wait what did I miss someone wanted Yelk to get the head job I can't imagine how bad are defense would have been I would have loved to have seen AJ get the job but he was already leaving for Rutgers the best part of that was the person who screwed that up got fired.

It's also important to remember Nielsen was hired by an AD who was only liked by himself and was fired shortly after i would have had a lot more respect for Bob if he had just been straight up what else would you expect from someone who basically felt like the Alumni didn't deserve any of his time Bob is a good coach but i've seen dead cats with more personality good coach who's personality just wasn't right for Western and he is the second WIU football coach to leave for a conference foe. I can respect this is a very personal topic for some WIU people. A lot of your fans have came on here mentioning Bob has no personality, he was not that good of a coach, his teams play no defense, and that you were happy he left. Guess what? We are thrilled to have him. He has done an amazing job so far at USD. Everyone I talk to likes Bob and his entire staff. Not one person at USD has said anything about his "personality". It sounds like WIU got what they wanted and so did USD. So why be so upset about it? This isnt a video game. It's real life. He did what was best for him and his family. But I do not have one bit of doubt that he truly cared/cares about everyone he left behind at WIU. Even after the cold remarks that have followed him. Just cause i was never a big fan of his personality there are thing i can give him credit for he came to Western when the situation around the football program was ugly uglier off than on the field he was replacing a coach who became the head coach do to an AD who had his own agenda's and got the school a pretty nice lawsuit there are a lot of coach with the success that he had who would have never even given WIU the time of day.

Second coach to leave for a foe....sounds like a trend to me. And who cares about his personality? You want a guy that puts on a good show or one that can recruit and develop a successful football program. I personally vote for #2...but that's just me. doesn't matter the show if no one is there to see it.

So First Post, I'm a believer that you are legit. I know no one here gives a flying flip. However the search and resourses put in to secure Neilson was not insignificant. There is buddy/gentleman rule that you don't steal amoungst your own. In the 11th hour Bob called a meeting and said that yes he had interviewd but he was a leatherneck through and through. The tone was jubilant. 2 days later from a remote location he announces he is the new head coach of USD. Our kids were devastated, angry, he taught them self discipline and to always be a man of honor and always hold yourself to a higher level. I don't know, South Dakota wanted him so bad, he just played them. saying no having a rally and what? DID THEY DOUBLE THE OFFER? THe kids here that he recruited view him as a hypocrite and a traitor. I have not done the research, when was the last time a D-1 coach under contract was poached away by a fellow member institution? Although I feel what USD did was unethical, it takes two to tango, if he was what he preached he would not have engaged those talks. Something tells me he wanted that job. I don't blame Nielson given how gloomy the situation at Western Illinois sounds. He didn't want to tie himself to that sinking ship, and what choice did he have besides another MVFC school? Any other FCS conference would be a step down, and I doubt any FBS schools were offering head coaching positions. USD was the right choice for his family and career. You asked about the last time a D1 moved within conference, Steve Sarkisian comes to mind. Pulled Washington out of the dumps then went to USC in 2014. I can't think of even one other example though.

Yeah tailgating is in Q lot there is a designated area for people who pay for those spots and the rest are 1st come 1st serve. As far as are team on offense we have probably the best line in the valley with all but one starter being a senior and the non senior is a junior with lot's of playing experience very deep at RB Norris has gotten most of the carries but McShane should be back for that game he had ankle sprain in the 1st game WR's we lost arguably 2 of the best in school history Jaelon Acklin has been off to a hot start on defense we went to a 3-4 this year which makes me very happy we got a very good group of LB's Khalen Saunders is a very good d-lineman are Db's have looked much improved but most WIU fans would tell you that is still one of are biggest concerns I'm looking forward to this game for a lot of reason we need to get through coastal carolina 1st it's homecoming are home opener and Nielsen coming back even though i can tell you i wasn't one bit sad to see him and his staff going because to me there is more to be a football coach than wins and losses and they failed to realize that when they were here. It's nice that you're happy that Nielsen is gone because we're thrilled that he's here. Makes for two satisfied parties. If you want we have a Men's baketball coach that i will be willing to give you as well.

Tailgating is in Q lot North of Hanson Field. I know the two best hotels are full since some relatives couldn't find a room. Burlington, Quad Cities, Keokuk, Fort Madison probably best options. Game is still more than a month away. Scheduled for Nov 11 in The Fabulous Fargo Dome, it is shaping up to be one of the 2 or 3 biggest games in the MVFC this season. Just for fun, I have set up the Game Analyzer Mechanism and plan to track the expected results after each weeks games. Right now the teams look equally matched with strong defenses. The Yotes have a more balanced attack but averaging 435 yds/game rushing the Bison don't really have time to pass much. TOP is also an interesting statistic. Here is this weeks line on The Big Game in Fargo: Projected winner: NDSU Bison Spread: Bison -5 Over/under: 79 Typical score: NDSU 42 USD 37 Shows a high scoring affair. Could be interesting with 2 explosive offenses and 2 stingy defenses. Since the results will change with each teams games there is still a long way to go before it is showing the probable results but, if they were to play today and each team fullfilled its statistical expectations we would see something similar to this weeks line. Well since apparently you think that you guys have a bunch of cupcakes before then let's just hope your players feel the same way cause I'm sure going to macomb for homecoming and hosting YSU and going to IlST will just be all super easy games.

Nice try but you missed your opportunity to say hey yeah maybe I crossed the line on the Streveler drool comment - I probably went too far and sorry about that. But your consistent defense of yourself and meaningless justification just continues to make you look classless. I've said my peace. I hope for a great game this weekend. Players going hard on every play and everyone including the UND players coming out injury free. I didn't cross the line because it was a joke. Your lack of a sense of humor is not my concern. Yeah making a joke about concussion is crossing the lines I love how NDSU has the most classy fans in the league and a fan base from the same state can be such scums.

Why does anyone care if SDSU fans are giving the Yotes respect? It's not like we don't end up playing them and a bunch of other same teams from the conference. If we beat them and do well in the conference then I'm sure we'll earn their respect, if not, then we probably won't and we'll look foolish for bitching about not having it after the first two games of the year. Having the respect of the opposing fans doesn't really do us any good in the win/loss column. The fact of the matter is we haven't finished over .500 in conference yet. It's tough to bitch too much about not having the proper respect. Hopefully we will earn it this year. I've always been a fan of not wanting respect i feel it makes a team hungrier and if teams underestimate you maybe they'll take you for granted.

Notice he has only 13 posts to his credit. He's a poser. My guess would be that he had little reason to care about the goings on at USD until the football team started making some noise. I enjoy seeing a fan of a school outside the Dakotas stop by for a change. i'm relatively new to the board because this one is easy to navigate and seems pretty accurate my opinion's are usually what i believe in my opinion the big sky isn't what it use to be in my opinion the MVFC and the CAA are by far the 2 best conferences.

Just a quick question by reading the comments on this board my guess is that when there is a double header fans have to pay to get into both games cause i know at western and a few other teams if you pay to get into the 1st game the second is free.

If you put them in the MVFC they wouldn't even be a playoff team USD will beat them by at least 2 TD's

Congrats on your win yesterday. Massey Composite has you ranked 12 in FCS. (May change a little as other polls come in but very good in any case.) MVFC after yesterday has 6 of top 12 ranked teams and 7 out of top 17. www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare1aa.htmGood luck next week against UND Hard for me to take any poll that has UNI in the top 10 to serious.
