The Sitting Bull trophy and the USD - UND rivalry was the subject of a Sports Illustrated article back during my days as a student at USD. Perhaps it could be resurrected as part of a week long celebration of Native American history and heritage that would rotate annually between Vermillion & Grand Forks ans culminate with the football game on Saturday That was a great read, thanks for posting.

I am planting my flag here: Bob needs to stay. He needs to hire a new OC, and if he can get a guy similar to what he did hiring Travis, we are sitting really well. Our schedule next year is NIGHT AND DAY from this year’s. Aiden has the offense looking coherent, D played outstanding in spite of all the injuries. Bob can do it. The University needs to put its FULL support behind him for one more FULL year to prove him out. We have some good looking dudes coming in, but they are FOR SURE gone if Bob is gone. I also think a change at OL is necessary, which is hard to say because I really like Andy. Any chance Crook stays on? Doesn't he have OL coaching experience with FBS schools? I'm a patient guy with coaches, especially football, I wouldn't mind Bob staying for length of contract. 2 cents.

Love this kids VIBE and the way he carries himself and most important, so did his teammates. No panic and just balled. Doesn't see ghosts and stood tall and confident in the pocket with all the bullets flying around him. Key was he was decisive and ball came out on time, which helps your OL. Very impressive debut, but it's what's next that matters. On top of all that, the defense played lights out in the 2nd half, especially the DBs and LBs vs some top notch WRs. Very impressive, minus the unnecessary penalties. It kind of goes hand-in-hand with the Offense possessing the ball, getting 1st downs. The offense improves the Time of Possession, and the Defense really shines! Keep it going in Youngstown!

So what's the word on Montana? I see their QB had 4 TD passes and led the team in rushing in the opener. Solid defense, threw a shutout. And a blocked punt for a TD, yikes.
What's the scouting report for the Griz?

Likes: 1) DBs play 2) DLs play - sacks and TFLs 3) Running game, except on 4th downs (though running game obviously overshadowed by the quick 14 pt. setback and by KSU's big runs) 4) Youngsters getting playing time in a 'big game' setting Dislike: 1) Offense didn't have a "got your back" response to Defense letting TD run on 1st play 2) Blocked punt 3) 0-4 on 4th down 4) Dropped and overthrown passes (a couple would have been sure big gainers/TDs) 5) No Alex Jensen Eagerly awaiting the Montana game. Last night's game, though a bummer, has really raised my interest in seeing the Yotes matched against an FCS foe, even the #3 FCS team. We won't be playing anyone even remotely as talented as KSU the remainder of the year. I wished you were right but I don’t think you are. Montana, NDSU are on the same playing field. This isn’t a great K-State team. Maybe 5th/6th in Big 12. The bright side is we played as awful as we could play. That can and has to improve. Ido think we can win Saturday but we have to play fired up. Once again this was an emotionless team. We need to play on fire. I may have overstated it (my tendency) anxious to see the FCS portion of the schedule. I agree with the KSU announcers about how the gap between FCS and FBS is narrowing, and I certainly don't discount the top 3 FCS teams, we'll certainly be the chaser as we face them. It will be interesting to see how KSU progresses in the Big 12 this year. I agree this week and following the Yotes need to be fired up and focused on technique and execution!

I did a google search on 'recession' and found most media outlets with articles defining (or redefining) the word, on the same day. Almost as if the Ministry of Truth put out an edict. he,he I jest! I did find an interesting point of view by Peter Jacobsen, "Who Really Needs a Definition of Recession?" fee.org/articles/who-really-needs-a-definition-of-recession/Full disclosure, it's Libertarian, but they seem to be REASONable people.

The OL and the RBs (even with injuries) makes for a promising look to the new season. RTDB
I wouldn't mind giving up a little on the passing side, to just pound out some 1st downs.
The defense has gotten better each year with the DC, and they are deeper also. We lost some serious talent through graduation, but all around I think we're deeper and have guys who have played under the system for multiple years.
We'll see how it plays out, but I'm looking forward to see the Yotes at K State!

We just need a name to etch this rule in history.
What do you got? "Fake Rabbits Rule" "Lame Rabbits Rule" "All fake, and no play, makes Jack a dull boy Rule"

Welcome back Kayla, another good hire by Herbster! As stated previously, patience on the Coaching side due to experience is in order. How she builds her staff will be important. The recruiting and relationship building side looks strong, which bodes well for the continuity of a nationally acclaimed program. My guess is Yotes fans will see the kind of basketball to which they've been accustomed, allowing for a necessary tranisition, which my guess will be brief.
Go Yotes!!

This is the price of success. Coaching changes are disruptive, especially if it's the whole staff. Just have to trust the admin to find the next great coach! It has been their history.

A lot has been accurately posted about this team, a couple of bullets, for my 2 cents:
* Keep the goals high, this team showed that USD (Summit League) can compete with the top teams. * Watching the potential next matchup, honestly feel that USD would have played Louisville/Tennessee equally as close as Michigan. Had we advanced it would have been the Final 4 before I felt that it would take an extraordinary effort for Yotes to win. * Yotes WBB and Jacks MBB represented well at NCAA, hopefully the NCAA selection committee will view Summit League differently in future years. * As Coach says, enjoy the precious present. It has been enjoyable to watch this team, this coach, and our Super Seniors! Thanks to all!
And yes, join or increase your support of the Howling Pack!
