Hillman is strong and gets a ton of O Rebounds. I'm not an expert, and prior to watching this tourney, I really didn't know who was WNBA potential. In my view, Hillman looks better than both of the likely WNBA players we just played from Ole Miss and Baylor. Her length and footwork are really noticeable, she will be a tough one to defend. Of course, to be fair, I haven't seen Hillman against the Coyote defense, yet.

Were they really that tied to Lee? Yes, I think so. It makes sense, that's who they played for, and you have to admit, they gave it all they had. So, I definitely think it's related to Lee, not to what Coach Pete is selling. IMHO
I wish them the best wherever they end up, they represented USD well!

Jay Elsen does a FANTASTIC job covering Coyote sports. FANTASTIC That mix of clips and insights, was as perfect as the players performance. He is really good at his craft!

An outsider's view, looks like a good hire. As stated, HC experience, even AD experience, high level assistant, and seems that he was involved in both recruiting and developing an NBA player at Utah State. And he's familiar with USD and Vermillion community.
I have a lot of confidence in the AD, he really hasn't had a bad hire for head coaches, in my opinion. Also, firing a COY, and moving on is not as easy as it may appear. We are fortunate we have good leadership in that position.
Looking forward to hear from Coach Pete, and watching his early steps in running the program.
Let's Go Yotes!

So it sounds like a decision could be announced soon? That was my understanding. Very surprised that nobody seems to have an opinion on EP. I’ll admit I don’t know much about him despite him having coached here. Assistants often do the grunt work with regard to recruiting, but it would be nice to know which ones he was personally responsible for… Agreed, especially since consensus is recruiting is an area for improvement. I think hiring an Assistant coach from the University, though not currently, can be advantageous. Just my opinion.

The admin seems confident we'll get someone better than Todd Lee.
That means we should be getting a hell of a coach!
Go Yotes!

This trip was indicative of the Yotes season, slow starts, stronger finishes, but one constant is they work hard and fight to the end. I know a #5 seed will draw the ire of some Yotes fans (which is OK), but I for one am looking forward to watching this team in the SLT (and thankfully, in person).
Some positives going into the SLT: X is back and getting into his zone, Tasos is becoming a 3-pt threat, adding to his inside game, Anderson at the point is helping defensively and offensively, Oliver had one of his best all round games, last night, so hopefully his confidence will be high during tourney, Kruz and Mason, have just been solid all season, Goodrich and Hayes, they just do what they do, play tough and get rebounds. The Yotes played the 2 seed very close (2x), they beat the 3 seed after being down 13 or 14, at their house with a big crowd.
There's a lot to like, in my view. My expectations are not high, but my interest is very high!

Summit League needs to do the right thing here, but unless the new commish has real leadership skills, not expecting much.

Are we really at a point with this program where a 10 point loss at home is good as long as the players fight hard? We have a long ways to go as a program and fan base. Nuff said Are we really at a point with this program where a 10 point loss at home is good as long as the players fight hard? NO! It's never OK to lose to State. Who said that? I'm going to get my pitchfork and my Sh*t kickers and I'll meet you at Carey's and we're going to rid Verm town of anyone who's wearing red-colored glasses. Oh wait, didn't we advertise that it was a red out, and the fans should wear all red, ahh hell with it, that's their problem. We have a long ways to go as a program... Not really, we're pretty close. and as a fan base... Yeah, that's true. Nuff said. 100%

State played the part, the undefeated.
Impressed with the fight in the Yotes.
I think we missed our shot in the first half, a lot of missed shots in the paint. Held State to 3 3-pointers attempted, none made. It felt like the Yotes should have been up 5+ at half instead of down five.
Keaton in street clothes?
Xavier looked good for first action in awhile.
This team keeps working and I would love to see what they can do in Sioux Falls!

The improvement from Spring to Fall was noticeable and I believe set a new plateau to climb further still.
There were many parts to this, but I was thinking about the fact that the D coordinator has had the opportunity and time to build his system. The defense was solid for good parts of the season. Also, the D line coach added, if I remember correctly, between the Spring and Fall seasons, has produced real results. I think we have a good Defensive coaching group and that we may be building something special on that side of the ball.
Like everyone has mentioned, we have some big shoes to fill with some key seniors moving on, but Coach Nielson seems confident that we have a lot of players waiting to step in. Looking forward to it!

The Coyotes have been flying under the radar for much of the season, and the 'Hail South Dakota' has only added to the "nice win, but..." syndrome. We're ranked #16, after defeating a #16, #13 and #7. We would likely be 6-1 going into Fargo, a winner take all for the MVFC, minus the targeting of our QB. And in the other loss in the Valley we squandered a 4th quarter lead, on the road. Our stats in the MVFC show that we are a bona fide top tier team.
I'm not writing this for ifs and buts, because it won't matter tomorrow anyway. How the Bison did in Youngstown, nor the Coyotes beating the Jacks, will have anything to do with tomorrow's outcome, much less anything that happened earlier in the season.
The Yotes need to line up and win battles, play by play for 60 minutes. They can, and I think they will, tomorrow and for weeks after tomorrow.
Go Yotes, bring home the title!

Before moving on to the game with the Bison. Just want folks to be mindful that certain words and phrases used might be offensive to friends and relatives who are bunny fans. A couple of examples come to mind. The Rosary and the phrase "just gimme a second and I'll get er done".if there are others you can think of please post. Take the Country song "Killing Time, it's just killing me" out of the play list.

Think getting beat twice in a row is enough to get those arrogant douche bags to admit this is their rivalry game? Hell even the media makes a bigger deal out of them playing for a stupid rock. How about after we pull off a win so dramatic that people around the country saw it? Sportscenter covered the ending of the game extensively, and of course it was also the number 1 play in the top 10. The video of the final play on the USD Twitter account already has 740k views. I'm coming across national stories like this one from outlets that don't focus on FCS football calling this the "finish of the season". Then of course, any outlets that do cover FCS football have USD front and center this weekend. I don't care what their fans say, we all know which game both teams never want to lose, and I very much enjoy that everyone in the world got to see us beat them. It was also nice that it all happened with the West side as a backdrop, what a Top Level play in a Top Level facility!
