I was hoping to see Simpson play but I guess I will have to wait. What other player may be missing with an injury other than Simpson.

As ridiculous as it is to have a braketology 3 weeks before the season starts, I would have liked to have had 2 Summit teams in there right from the start (it would speak to perceptions). But alas, SDSU has let me down yet again... It goes with the burden of not being picked to win the conference. It also an indication that the Summit could be overlooked again for the 2 team inclusion.

Several WBB teams in the Summit League are losing players from this past season’s roster: Denver - Grace White 5’10” Soph —> Valparaiso Omaha - Kylee Coulter 5’9”RS Soph —> D2 Harding NDSU- Reilly Jacobson 6’2” Jr —> Western Michigan NDSU - Sarah Jacobson 5’8” Jr—> D2 Moorhead St NDSU- Macy Kvilvang 6’0” Soph —> rumored to be joining her brother at Valley City St PFW - Amaya Johns 5’9” Fr —> JUCO PFW - Sophia Rajala 6’0 Soph —> ?? PFW - Kierstyn Repp 5’10” Soph —> ?? The 3 PFW women may be result of Coach Nielsen reinstated as coach following the leave of absence. The 3 NDSU women seem to be casualties of Walseth's regime.

In reality, $132,500 is nothing to turn your nose up at. Amazing how jaded a person can get. Yet the Bison seem to have taken an adequate amount of time to fill the head coach position for the women in Fargo. It would seem likely the starting pay will be over the salary JD is earning. The starting pay could be in excess of $175K and there are assistant coaches applying. The pay is increasing in this neighborhood we know as the Summit.

Thank you for providing me an opportunity for my annual SLT schedule rant. I don't know how much money SL makes from ESPN to carry the games - my guess is not much. But that money can't possibly be more than the total of what Fox Sports (or someone else) would pay PLUS more tickets sold if the championships were played on Sunday. How hard is this to grasp? Of course there weren't NDSU or Omaha fans Tuesday night IT WAS A FREAKING TUESDAY NIGHT, and they didn't know they were playing until late Monday night. This isn't a dig on SDSU fans or USD fans, but OF COURSE it benefits them - their fans can decide 1 hour before the game they want a ticket and then go. I saw a bunch of tweets lamenting how a big portion of the crowd Tuesday night was SDSU fans. OF COURSE IT WAS - you didn't need to take a short notice day off of work to attend, it doesn't somehow make you a better fan. A weekend semi-finals/finals at least gives the driving distance schools - two of which played in the SLT finals this year - a reasonable opportunity to hop in the car and make the game. Wouldn't an additional 1000 or 2000 tickets sold (easy if a SD school is playing) more than pay for being on ESPNU on a Tuesday night? Thank you for ignoring my rant. See you again next year. This highlights the difference of those that attend the SLT rather than those that attend your favorite team's game(s). Since I have only missed a few games due to unforeseen events, I normally buy session passes to watch the SLT. The revenues that might be available from television is beyond what I know to comment. The rationale for the days the games are played should be available from the Summit offices. It is evident that most session tickets are not used for many games which could fuel a scalper market(Ticketmaster) for sale of tickets not used.

I'm not saying they won't recover but I don't think their fans really truly understand how much they're going to miss those two next year. It's going to be a rude awakening. Right. I have a hard time believing that their team will step back and stay there, but there's a giant question mark looming that hasn't been there before. Just going back to two years ago when Miller got injured they took a significant step back (3 seed in Summit, early exits in SL and WNIT). Couple Miller's graduation with another senior scoring 13.8 per game and is the conference's all-time 3-point leader and I think there's no way they are even close to this level next year. I'm sure they won't be down for long, but who is going to lead them back? It will be a bitter pill to swallow. USD will be the preseason favorite to win the Summit. However, the Jackrabbits may get it together by the end of the season. Meanwhile, it will be more encouraging if both teams perform this year!

I partly agree with this statement. I think the State players are classy girls, and publicly their coach is as well. However, I've heard from too many former USD players that AJ used to spend a good portion of his recruiting pitches bad mouthing USD and their coaches. I don't know if he still does that or not, but it's tough to have too much respect for him knowing that. His players hate him too from what I hear. So is AJ downgrading Williams or Coach P? How many and which players hate AJ? This stuff needs more info. By the way, the game is on rerun right now.

And yet NDSU vs Omaha is on ESPN3 today.... NDSU and UND always seem to gave their games available on cable channels as replays, as well. Why is that?? UND playing Denver on Midco right now.

I like that Massey prediction!! I expect a bigger red crowd in Brookings for this matchup even if the weather is more difficult than Saturday. This is a feature game for NCAA D1 WBB.
