Mike Jewett is a great guy. He did a great job for the Jackrabbits as associate head coach and the Brookings School District as the activities director. Most of the people that know Mike(& his family) will wish him the best wherever he lands. He has always worked well with young people in a positive direction. Mike's brief stint as AD also demonstrated his leadership in the community. I am not certain what he may have done in Vermillion to create animosity.

Attendance was 1,465. Below average, but not bad, as not all season ticket holders claimed their tickets (like me, who was out of town). I thought the turnout was great, given the disappointing season. We were only 3k below the season average, for crepes sake. In the first round WNIT game the Jacks hosted in 2022, they turned out a crowd that was also 3k below their season average. Glass houses, just saying. Many WNIT teams were probably playing in near-empty gyms this week. No reason to denigrate the great local fans who have been showing up consistently for many years through thick and thin. There were some who trickled in after the intros and tip. The camera shot prior to tip was much more sparse than the halftime. If you have the SLN stream, you can see the early look. I did not intend to "denigrate" the loyal fans in attendance. I am disappointed that you ended up in the bracket with NDSU.

I am watching the game. The Vermillion people must have done a poor job of promoting this game. The attendance is sparse. The team should expect a better turnout.

You can also include Madison Vlastuin (from Lennox) who was averaging 31 minutes a game for SDSU but she got injured on Thursday night. SDSU will have 7 SD players on their team next year. They had 4 SD players on their team last year but 2+ started some games for them last year. That’s right I totally forgot about her. She was having herself a nice year. I hate those injuries regardless of what team they play on about as much as losing. Make that 5 SD women next year plus 3 SD scholarship players on roster. gojacks.com/news/2023/11/8/womens-basketball-jacks-add-five-south-dakota-natives-on-signing-day.aspx

Very very true Although it’s unsettling to hear “not around much longer” lol Do you have a contingency plan for the fan board since you may resemble the "not around much longer" crowd?

I am surprised that attending or watching a basketball game is not on the list. The yotes should handle both mav teams that day.

We were trying to watch the replay of this game, but when we click on the game, it comes up asking us to pay 79.99 for an annual Midco Sports Network subscription. We already have both Midco Sports and Summit League subscriptions, but it won’t let us do anything. What a joke, they just complicated it and made it so people can’t watch. I was having troubles the first few times. I had to sign out and sign in for a few times and then all of a sudden it left me signed in and it worked.

I have Sony, LG, Samsung, and Visio. It doesn't look like any of them are an amazon or apple tv. I do have a few firesticks that I can try. I've never gotten an app that wasn't already loaded onto the firestick, but if that is being suggested as an option then you must be able to do it. Has anyone actually had any luck casting the game from their phone to their TV? I'm talking from midco sports app. Has anyone been able to do that? I was able to cast from my phone to my tv. I have both a Vizio and Samsung that I have cast it too. I downloaded to my Android, but I do not find any casting available.

I WILL say that the Midco Sports + app on my iphone is shitty and does not work. I suspect that it needs a fix of some sort (as many apps do). But my Roku apps on my home TVs work fine, and I can also stream on my phone from the browser (MCS+ website)... So it's not perfect, but well worth it for me. My TVs had the espn app on them so it was easy to watch the games on TV, but with this SLN I can't even figure out how to cast it from my phone to the TV. Does anyone have some advice on how to cast it to the TV? I'm able to cast high school games from my phone to the TV, so I'm sure there is a way to cast the Summit league network to the TV. There is a statement on the site that requires a Roku in order to download as well as Apple TV and a few other software/apps that are compatible. I was not able to cast from the laptop either when I went back to read the info. Google does not "support" the app according to my less than 5 year old Sony. You can access Midco Sports Plus anywhere in the US using any of the supported devices listed below. Desktop web browsers Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge (Internet Explorer not supported) Android mobile/tablet iOS mobile/tablet Amazon Fire TV Apple TV Roku

My tickets in between the 30s were $20 each plus $5 handling. I did see that the east side appeared to be less by a few dollars. The weather outlook is currently looking good for getting a crowd into DJD.

I would agree that both ND schools have upped their game. I would also agree that USD had a drop off due to injury and portal. The pipeline that exists for USD is still viable and the experience of the team from this year is more valuable since the graduates are moving out from the injuries and some will return for next year. ND schools still need a bit more team base which is visible. Many of the remaining teams need to catch up to be in the top half. UND in particular will need more length before they supplant USD & NDSU. It is encouraging to see upgrades as we know that the Summit is capable of sending 2 teams to the NCAA Tourney.

The article doesn’t mention estimated capacity, but the renditions look like the basketball setup could typically feel big and empty similar to how the dome used to feel. If I were in charge of the project, I would try to find a way to have the additional court side seats lifted to allow for a “fans sitting on top of the action” type feel while still maintaining some feel of continuity with the permanent seating. Not sure if that would be possible, but would be worth a try. I think 4K for hockey and 5K for basketball are capacities.

I watched a few minutes of their game in Brookings. They only had 8 players available due to injury/sickness. Leading scorer is a freshman but she's out with a stress fracture. Their second leading scorer is also a freshman. She had foul trouble the first half. She is their 6'2" forward who moves fairly well. If they are currently picked 2nd in the OVC, the bar is a bit lower for the first team OVC squad. They depend on 3 point shots and slowing the pace with their shorter bench. UT-Martin has a couple shooters who could not shake the defense. They have only 10 players on the season box score. They may need to pull a redshirt as 3 freshmen have not played this year.

Definitely going to be an interesting season. Only thing I know for sure is the Jack's are the likely favorite to repeat as WNIT champs. That would be another year the Jackrabbits come a bit short of the hope and aspiration. However, they did a decent job of making lemonade out of the lemons that were delivered. Right now, the point guard position has been handed over to freshmen as injury has 2 point guards watching from the sideline. Hopefully the Jackrabbits can manage better than a year ago with a 4-7 OOC start which found more than a couple of injuries. Meanwhile, has there ever been a back to back WNIT winner?
