Would love to see the attendance be greater than 4,201 for the NIVC championship. LOL....I know where you’re going with this. Actually 4103 would do it Great great thought. And goal....lol Kudos to you

When we first got snubbed by the NCAA selection committee, and it was announced that we would be playing in the NIVC, I took the stance that other than having our pride damaged, this might be the best thing that happened, drawing a parallel to the women’s basketball run in the WNIT a few years ago. That tournament elevated the status and awareness of our program, which Dawn has taken to new levels, and now the same thing is happening to our volleyball program. I fully expect Leanne to capitalize on this as well. I will bet a dime to a dollar that ticket sales will grow incrementally next year, awareness of success will grow, and we will continue to recruit high level kids for the simple reason it’s fun to win and play in front of loud crowds.
So now Georgia Tech. 2nd place in the ACC. Since October 9th, they went 13-1 against conference opponents. Their only loss was at Pitt, lost 3-2, and Pitt went through the ACC undefeated. They destroyed TCU last night, and the stat that literally jumped out at me was 15 blocks. That’s huge. So what I’m saying is this.....This is one hell of a volleyball team coming to Vermillion Tuesday night to play for the title. I haven’t watched film, but this is in my opinion the best team we have played this year...by far.
Our ladies need to play at an extremely high level ( which I think they will ) and play in front of a loud and riotous crowd. Crowd noise will be a factor. My hope is we can somehow get 2500-3000 people in the SCSC. We have an opportunity in front of us, let’s get this done and support our athletes. HUGE MATCH

As a player I don’t recall the Jug either. It's certainly possible the Jug was forgotten, lost, or simply not exchanged for certain periods of our history. It would be fun to piece the history of the Jug back together. I'm sure somebody out there knows. When did you play? Also the de-pantsing. It probably wouldn't be acceptable in today's social climate, but if it was a tradition, maybe some less offensive form could be brought back. Like you suggested with student body presidents exchanging the trophy. 70’s

I wasn’t kidding but now I’m not certain if it was school presidents or student body presidents. I have a strong hunch you’re right and I’m mistaken

Back in the day, the Presidents of the respective schools met at the 50 after the game and the losing President had to remove his slacks. I think that stopped when Betty Asher was our President for obvious reasons. Lol
I think the Jug should be awarded to the winning President on the 50 immediately after the game, and in turn presented to their respective team for pomp and circumstance that goes along with winning.

Roads home tonight were crappy in NW Iowa. Normal 2 hour trip took 2:30. Snow covered highways. Was worth the trip though. Good job ladies.

They were removing the tape literally once the teams walked off the floor. My guess would be Saturday so either Tulsa can come up or Weber while still on the road.
SHOUT OUT TO OUR OWN. USDTATOR for winning the trivia challenge at the match. ‘ “ I was watching bud....congrats “

As critical as they are of USD’s official attendance numbers, I’m going to be anxious to see what they report. I jokingly said 3000 earlier but I don’t think there was even 3000 people there. Gorgeous day, ranked team, and no support? As a player I’d be severely disappointed. I hope our coaches have photos of that crowd to,show future recruits. I’m dead serious. What a bummer for their players.

Don’t be so critical. There has to be at least 3000 people there. But who wants to sit outside in conditions like this? Oh wait
