I love this team and a huge fan of our coaching staff. That being said, I go to a lot of games between USD and Iowa State because I love the game, but I don’t consider myself capable of comparing lineups and doing analysis. I go more by gut feel and mo jo of the team at the time. My question to you is based on your ability to break down opponents based on strengths and weaknesses, at what part of the rankings do you think that we couldn’t beat the opponent no matter how well we played? Example, if Oregon is number 1 do you see a situation where we could beat them? If the answer is NO, then how far down the rankings do you go before you say we have better than a punchers chance? So let’s say Clemson is 10th, in your mind is there a situation where we can beat them and not be a fluke? Another way to ask us can we beat the 14th ranked team? 11th? 8th? I’m curious for your answer because I totally respect your analysis. I think this team will have a puncher's chance against anybody. State played Oregon tough twice last year and I think this year's USD team would be able to do the same. Do I think USD will beat Oregon regularly? No. Do I think they're going to beat Baylor or UConn? Not likely.
But can they beat teams like that? They can.
I think that when you get to 15 and below in the national rankings you're talking about teams USD shouldn't feel like they're taking a backseat to in any way.
From what I hear, they played the preseason No. 17 team in the ESPNW poll here recently and it wasn't the ranked team that looked like the ranked team. Granted, that's a scrimmage situation and not EXACTLY like a real game but it should tell people where this team is.
Awesome answer. Thanks

I think you've got to take the last two losses last season with a grain of salt. If Sjerven and Duffy are fully healthy this team will be able to beat just about anybody on a given night. They're going to miss the hustle, toughness and clutch FT shooting from Arens, particularly early in the season, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the ball moves a little better offensively without her. The flip side of that is that they will also miss her ability to get to the basket and draw a foul when things bogged down offensively. It will be interesting to see how they overcome her absence and who, if anybody, steps up and becomes that closer from the stripe. I love this team and a huge fan of our coaching staff. Had a few beers in the tailgate area before the game. My biggest regret was that I didn't have a few more. Lol

Congrats to our administration for finding the resources to do this. At our level budgets are tight and jaunts like this aren’t cheap. But just like when we bid home court in the women’s WNIT run a few years ago because of the overwhelming success of these teams, our leaders go over the top to soften what was a brutal potential travel schedule. Our gals have a chance to get to 30 wins. Rest will no longer be an issue.
I’m very proud of what we do for our athletes and I’m extremely proud of what they do for us

Right now there’s a lot of great and fun things happening in our athletic department. Although some may not see it as I do the football team in my mind is playing for an FCS playoff spot. If they win the next three, then say drop one in a Fargo, they’ll be playing the Jacks for a playoff spot. So in essence the playoffs start a week early for USD. That’s fun.
Secondly the women’s volleyball team is undefeated in Summit League play and has a chance at finishing the season at 30-1 should they win the tournament in Denver and run the table in the remaining conference schedule. Then comes the automatic NCAA tournament berth if that happens. Fun stuff.
Men’s basketball opens in Hawaii. They’re predicted to make a run at the Summit League title.
Then lastly is our beloved women’s basketball team starting their season in 11 days out in Boston. But on NOVEMBER 13th our ladies host the Drake Bulldogs at 7pm. If you looked at the mid major poll you’ll see that it’s #1 vs. #2 right out of the shoot. It is critically important that our arena be filled and loud that night and give our ladies a shot in the arm right out of the gate. This team is going to be special, something we’ve gotten accustomed to, but still we need to show how much we care. How do we do that?
1. Buy tickets 2. Every chance you have between now and 11/13 you talk about that game to EVERYONE 3. Help create a great deal of fan support and get people excited about our ladies 4. Make it a priority to not only be there but bring others with you.
START HYPING THIS GAME NOW. BUILD IT UP.
I just canceled a scheduled trip down south so I can be there. It’s gonna be a blast. These ladies are something special. Not only champion players, but students with a gpa that’s mind blowing, and lastly great ambassadors for our university. Let’s start the countdown to Drake today.
Go YOTES

This is a tough stretch travel wise. Tulsa tonight and Grand Forks Sunday at 1. Very glad it’s not against upper tier teams as they might be an issue. I look for a little fatigue at North Dakota.
