There is a new story on goyotes.com about former high school QBs Colin Mertlik and Andrew Van Ginkel moving to defensive end that is well done. There is also additional info on our defensive front included as well. After reading this story I was compelled to check out the K State roster to see just who our boys would be lining up with in the first game of the year. As one would expect, lots of big bodies up front. In reviewing their roster I have to admit, I got a good chuckle out #31 Taylor Hilgers for K State. This kid bares an uncanny resemblance to our man Cousin Eddie, only he's not quite as intimidating (I included the link to his roster page below). Anyway, curious what insight people have on K State, especially Wildcat fans that have been visiting the board. www.kstatesports.com/sport/m-footbl/2015/roster/5589bf88e4b09d6fde8f385a

Well done! YF, will you be heading down for the game in Manhattan? Our band of the usual suspects will be going Friday. Should be fun. Haven't been to a KSU game since I was a soph or junior in college. LOTS of purple.

Just a sampling of the general expectations surrounding this year's K-State football team: www.kansascity.com/sports/college/big-12/kansas-state/article29819731.htmlFrom what I've read in other articles, there's a three- or four-way battle for the QB job. The team strength will be its secondary. One article stated this may be the strongest secondary in K-State history. Otherwise many question marks. We are the more experienced team. Of course, experience only goes so far against superior talent. Right now we're listed as 36-point dogs. Not terribly out of line, but I think there's some underdog value there for the degenerates among us. I don't see this turning into an Oregon or Wisconsin type game. Probably more of a Northwestern/UCF/Air Force type outcome.

I actually like my chances to make some money at -36. No stats or scores to back this up, but it just always seems like the big time programs play down to their FCS opponents while the FCS team is running on adrenaline and plays better than they really should.
Still not predicting we keep it close, but I'm gonna take the coyotes on the spread.

I'll take USD at +36. The Yotes -36 is asking quite a lot

I've got to get two games in week 1 as my daughter gets married week 2. Need to maintain my one game a week average. Counting on you to lead me to pregame activities.

We already have a lead on one KSU tailgate.

K-State fan here! I'm looking forward to having any SD fans in Manhattan! While you are in town, be sure to check out Aggieville....its a GREAT hangout spot! I don't know to much about your team, but I will say NEVER underestimate a Bill Snyder team! The men are very well coached, and a disciplined team! Best of luck to you, and enjoy Manhattan!

...I will say NEVER underestimate a Bill Snyder team! The men are very well coached, and a disciplined team! .... I'd say that is an understatement. As a long time Husker fan, I hated KSU; but I always respected them (so long as Bill Snyder was the coach). What that guy has done, two times over, with that program is nothing short of miraculous. I look forward to getting down to Manhattan. It has been at least 12 years since the last time that I was down there. I will be interested to see what has changed. As you stated Aggieville is a fun place to hang. I will be sure to have my sunglasses on to soften the sight of all that purple

It just depends what kind of atmosphere you like. If you want a more relaxed atmosphere Kat House and Keltic Star offer a unique experience. Something upbeat Eighteen63, Tanners, Tubby's, Kites/Rusty's, O'Malley's, Rock a Belly. Food wise my absolute favorite if its not too packed is So Long Saloon (recommend the chipotle raspberry black bean dip), and Taco Lucha are the 2 I suggest mostly!
