I recognize you're just having a little fun with the name similarity but thought some may be interested in knowing a little about Cleveland Abbott. He is one of South Dakota's more accomplished sons. Here's a link to Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Abbott More detail can be found here: state.sdstateconnect.org/%E2%80%98cleve%E2%80%99-abbott%E2%80%99s-influence/Cleve Abbott was born in Yankton but his family moved to Watertown and he is a WHS grad and is in the WHS Hall of Fame. After earning his undergrad degree at SDSU, he did graduate work at Harvard when Booker T Washington lured him to Tuskegee University.

The Board of Regents have COA on the agenda next week. Here is the link to the report that was submitted for the agenda. In summary, SDSU has a figure for FCOA of $6798 and USD has a figure of $4145. USD is going offer FCOA in year one to men's and women's basketball only and will have full implementation in 3 years. The FCOA will be proportional to the scholarship amount each athlete receives, ie. if a track athlete is half scholarship, they get half FCOA. As of now, SDSU is only going to offer $5000/athlete in the sports of men's and women's basketball and "strategically plan" to implement other sports sometime in the future. It's nice to see that USD has a plan to fully implement and fund all student athletes by year 3 rather than "plan" on doing it sometime in the future. This is time we all have to step up and help fund this important endeavor. www.sdbor.edu/theboard/agenda/2015/December/6_W_BOR1215.pdf

USD will be offering COA in all sports. Mens and womens basketball will be implemented at aapproximate FCOA of $3600 in year 1. The $3600 is 87% of the $4145 estimate used for financial aid purposes. All other scholarship athletes will receive some COA starting in year 1, but the amounts paid will be phased in so that all are receiving FCOA by Year 3. The amounts paid in years 1 and 2 will be based on the schoarship athletes year in the program; for example Year 1 amounts will range from $2000 to $3000) Here is the Agenda Item from the upcoming SDBOR meeting. By year 3, all full scholarship athletes will be at $4000/year. SDSU is proposing to offer a FCOA to mens and womens basketball scholarship athletes of $5000/yr starting in year 1. The $5000 is 74% of the $6798 estimate used for financial aid purposes. They have no current plans to offer an COA to other sports but will continue to plan to do so in the future.

Minced words by USD by I guess the plan is better than nothing at all. I suppose they didn't lie when they announced a plan to offer FCOA to ALL sports. We just all jumped on the train and assumed it was full FCOA for all. Turns out everybody will get a piece of pie, just some larger than others, and eventually, in 3 years, everybody will have their full slice.

Like goyotes said, they are offering COA for all sports starting next season. It was all of us who jumped on it and said it we were going full bore out of the gate. Techincally the AD didn't lie.

When the announcement comes without details there will be some incorrect assumptions

When the announcement comes without details there will be some incorrect assumptions Just stop. lol The link your provided states exactly what we are saying. That stipends will be provided for all sports next year. Everyone assumed they would be stipends in the full amount next year, but that is being implemented over three years. How about you just stop and go post on your own damn board?
