They played UND pretty tough this past weekend up in Grand Forks. Not a team we should look past, but should be a pretty decisive victory nonetheless.
Let's take care of business on Saturday and hopefully get the students/community excited about the season. Get the win this weekend then take a breather before we hit the MVFC gauntlet.
Hope to see a good tailgate crew. I'll be the guy in red. Go Yotes.

Agree fightsd that Drake will not be an easy game. The Yotes need to approach the game that it will be tougher than the Davis game so we definitely need to clean up the penalties especially. The Red Sea swarming defense needs to swamp Drake!!

Get on them early, keep the crowd in it. Hopefully keep the student section around and loud.
Is it true they are switching the home and away sidelines? I read that somewhere here i thought, but I can't find it now.

Let the students give the opposing team an earful, makes sense to me.

I was told they went to that sideline so the coaches in the booth could recognize players and packages coming into the game easier.

Well I know why they originally switched the sides. It got pretty hostile over there for visiting teams. Interesting they switch back this season. I fear for Bo Pelini and his cat come D-Days.

I would like to point out that UND's close game with Drake came sandwiched between a landmark victory against Wyoming and their first game against NDSU in a dozen years. If ever there were a formula for a trap game that was it.

Herbster announced it at the season ticket holder's event. The move makes sense... bigger sideline, closer to training rooms, student section has more incentive to be a student section

I'm kind of excited about this move. I know when Joe first got here he was steadfast against having the opposing team sit under the student section. He was recalling his days at UNC when the crazies still lived up to their name. I've heard stories of beer bottles, batteries, etc being thrown at players. Now obviously we don't want any of that, but if the student section needs tormenting the opposing players to keep them interested and at the games then by all means give em an ear full.

In other news, coyotes are favorites by 17.5 according to a poster on the drake forums. Here's the link if anybody's interested: www.drakenation.com/Not much analysis going on over there.

It probably shouldn't be, but in my mind this is a benchmark game Saturday. Drake played what appears to be a decent North Dakota team fairly close. Granted, they scored at the end to make it that way, but nonetheless it is what it is. It appears our defense has improved, and we are going to rely on the run game to win ball games. That usually means games aren't blow outs. I would be happy to keep Drake at 13 or under, and get 27 or more on them. This is a home opener, and for several reasons we need to look pretty good. It would help with confidence to be 2-1 heading into Youngstown State game. YSU is pretty darned good, in my mind, good enough for playoffs, and that would ( or could ) be a signature win, but first we have to play well this Saturday.
On a side note, there is going to be a massive tailgate on the far end of the concrete on east side of Dome where several ( around 40 ) former players and alum of USD will be tailgating. Cmon over and have a beer and shoot the $hit with these guys, many of them are characters. Let's have an enthusiastic tailgate and carry it over into the Dome.
I would like to see a big change in how our crowd acts and cheers for the Coyotes. It would be huge to make this a really lousy place for visiting teams to come. We can be loud, and we should be. Saturday is going to be fun.
