Question to bring up is do we want another coach who is on the back side of his career or one who is on his way up?

This is a no-brainer if there ever was one. If USD can come to terms with Nielsen and he wants the job he should get the position. The guy checks off every box on the wish list, and my personal requirement of knowing, understanding, and being a proven commodity inside this conference. 100% agree

While Nielson did put up some impressive numbers at Duluth, he certainly has not been dominant at WIU. If you look at his record in MVFC he is 10-14 with 6 of those wins coming from 2 teams (South Dakota & Indiana St.)

I would love it if Caruso was a candidate, but I don't think that he is. Knowing Caruso, he is at his dream job right now with unlimited resources at the D3 level in a hotbed for recruiting D3 talent. I honestly don't think he is interested one iota in coming back to USD to be the HC. I could be wrong but thats my opinion. We have not heard anything either confirming or denying that he is candidate for the job. What we do know with relative certainty is that 3 guys have been identified as candidates. I know that Wesley got an interview, so he is a candidate, all be it he has very little chance of being the guy this time around. Debar has been tabbed as an interviewee and so has Bob Neilson. Out of those 2 guys, we have a guy that his proven his ability at the FCS level in the MVFC. DeBoer is unknown at this level as a HC. He was OK as an FCS OC. Flash back to the good ole' days at the Char-bar. You can either rolll the dice and wait until close to try and get the hottest chick in the bar (Deboer) who might not even put out, or go home now with the girl that might not be quite as sexy, but likes to drink and watch sports, and is known to be a good lay (Neilson). I know who I would pick every time. Sorry if that got weird, but I take the sure thing if you know what I mean. HAHAAA. Love this.

Question to bring up is do we want another coach who is on the back side of his career or one who is on his way up? By the poll the majority of Coyote Fans want a guy on the back side of his career to make it two in a row.

I would have to think by now that the chances of Stugart getting the job have gone down. I wouldn't say he is out just yet because maybe the Coyotes are honestly doing their due diligence and performing a true national search with no pre-ordained candidate. If that is the case everyone is still in play. If there is a chosen one or two out there I would have to think that all coaches that have been done with their season for 2 weeks or more would not be looking too likely. I really hope that a canidate hasn't been chosen yet and all applicants have been given a legitimate chance at the job. If the Yotes do have a front runner I hope they aren't tunnel visioned with him just yet. Just let the best guy get the job and let that consulting firm have plenty of say in who should get the job. I can't wait to find out who it will be but on the other hand the speculation is fun as well.

Do you think USD can pony up an extra $75,000. to hire Nielson away from WIU? My other thought is can they pay more then Stiegelmeir makes?

Coach Nielson's base salary is 206,000 and he made another 50,000 in bonuses.
