Isn't Nagy trying to skip town? USD has done a favor for them once that guy moves on.

SDSU has had no reason to go after multi-year contracts. Do you not understand that? Once it gets approved will Stig, Nagy, or AJ want multi-year contracts? Who knows. It hasn't affected SDSU at all. AJ may be in talks right now for all you know about wanting a multi year deal or he is leaving for Green Bay the next time that job opens up. If that happened I wonder if they would send a private jet to pick him up this time instead of letting him change his mind on his drive to Green Bay

If that happened I wonder if they would send a private jet to pick him up this time instead of letting him change his mind on his drive to Green Bay AJ already surpassed a multi-year contract from Green Bay to stay at SDSU with 1 year contracts. Guess that doesn't matter to him. Besides why would AJ leave SDSU? He has one of the best fan supports in the nation, a great program that isn't going anywhere, and made a name for SDSU as a perennial national mid-major powerhouse. And I mean, there isn't much of a jump between SDSU and Green Bay. Both are great mid-major programs. AJ's name did get brought by the Minnesota media when the Gopher Women were looking for a coach. I think AJ is 3-1 or something like that against the goofers.

I hate to add to this dumb conversation, but it appears that state fans think working in Brookings is the pinnacle of a coaching career, and they is why the 3 revenue sport coaches have been there long term. They have all passed on jobs at some point, but that could be due to a bunch of things (kids in school, lousy offers elsewhere, spouse who didn't want to leave). AJ is gone in 10 minutes if Tennessee calls, Stig is gone in 10 minutes if Power 5 calls, and Nagy is gone in 10 minutes when his family feels it is time to move on (or Power 5, I would guess).
That said, the same can/should be said about Smith & Williams. (Neilsen TBD) I just think USD accepts it and wants to make itself competitive in that world. State fans want to pretend it isn't real.

Isn't Nagy trying to skip town? USD has done a favor for them once that guy moves on. What would make you say that? Didn't he interview for the Bradley job last year? Maybe it was a false rumor or I'm remembering something wrong but I feel I had heard that he interviewed for that job.

16 pages later and they're still fuming over on the bunny boards. A few level-headed posters understand that this benefits both schools, but others are asking for Herbster's resignation and saying Coach Bob is going to try to get his old job back at WIU. Can't make this stuff up!

Impossible to logically explain something to a state people. You'd think the general studies program would contain something about formulating a coherent thought.

I won't bring myself to go check their board but that is just f'ing stupid if anyone actually thinks Herbster should resign and that Nielsen isn't here to stay. No laws broken, no real wrongdoing at all really. What logic is there to this? What dark deed did Herbster commit to warrant a resignation? Any controversy to be had here is by those who actively pursue ways to look at USD negatively, no matter how far they have to stretch.

Didn't he interview for the Bradley job last year? Maybe it was a false rumor or I'm remembering something wrong but I feel I had heard that he interviewed for that job. He met with Ball State a few years ago, not sure about Bradley I don't recall much about the Bradley interview but that job always has zillion applicants. And even back in D2 days he got on a Bradley final list which he did not even get an interview. Same as Ball State. He was eliminated in both jobs and never got a finalist interview that I recall. If Nagy decides to move, it will have to be a fit that brings him home to Illinois. I myself do not really get to excited about Multi Year Contracts. We do know this that Nielsen can not go back to WIU, since they hired an assistant from Richmond. I am hoping the BOR policy does get changed so Nielsen gets what he wanted, a multi year contract, What everyone from SDSU is saying that the Multi Year contracts are not a burning issue at SDSU. That is for right now, but if the policy gets changed then we offer multi year contracts. My guess is that Jim Morgan retired CEO from Daktronics and SDSU alum, and a current BOR favors a change in the policy.

What do you expect from a fan base that defended a wife beater? They demand that Herbster gets fired for not only putting USD in a better situation but doing something that will also benefit that other school. Unreal. They really are something.

Here are the draft minutes from the 1/29/16 BOR meeting regarding the proposed suspension of the prohibition on multiyear contracts to allow for offering a multiyear contract to Coach Nielson. The minutes also contain some discussion regarding SB 102, introduced by Brookings senator Tidemann, to allow the sale of alcohol on campus for certain events. A summary of the minutes regarding these 2 items: (1) Suspension of prohibition on multiyear contracts - recommendation of legal counsel was to suspend the prohition to allow USD to offer Coach Nielson a multiyear contract. Board voted to deny the suspension. (2) Alcohol sales - board decided at December board meeting to not submit legislation repealing the prohibition of alcohol sales. Board now votes to support SB 102 to repeal the prohibition.
