The last step to be taken for 2016 on Saturday in the Dakota Dome. The Coyotes are certainly just playing for pride in this one. If there was one game that I am convinced of what the Coyote objective should be it is this one. The Coyotes can not allow NDSU to dictate this game as a between the tackles type game. NDSU wants a traditional, low risk power football game where they will look to wear down the opponent.
Even though I don't think the Coyotes will do this to an extreme amount I believe the team needs to thrown caution to the wind. They need to play a high risk high reward type game. I believe that to be most particularly true on defense. On the D end the Coyotes cannot play a safe prevent style of defense or they will all but guarantee their demise. The Coyote need to blitz more on Saturday then they have all year. I would blitz at least half the time if not more than that. The goal should be to try to keep the defense off the field. If they allow NDSU to just run the ball down their throat they will have nothing left in the tank in the 4th quarter if it does happen to be a close game. The Coyotes need to keep alot of defenders on the line and also play tight coverage at the same time. They need to try to create turnovers and to create several negative plays and hope to create short stints of time for the D to be on the field. Force NDSU to try to pass it over the top of them. Don't allow the run and don't allow the short pass. I would rather the Bison hit on a 60 yard touchdown pass instead of them taking a 6:00 70 yard drive for a touchdown and also wearing down the defense at the same time. The Coyote offense should almost not even try to run it up the middle because they won't have success doing it. Part of success is owning ones weaknesses. If the Coyotes continue to try to establish a running game against this team it will not go well. Use screen passes and other short patterns as the running game. I would like to see Streveler have the ball in his hands to make the play almost every play. Either he runs or passes. Basically the Coyotes should try to entice the Bison into a shoot out type game. Take advantage of the speed that they have at receiver and test the secondary for the Bison.
My pick will be a more conventional type game and a Bison 30-13 victory.
