Any details? SDSU had a huge writeup in the paper about their Learfiled deal. USD doesn't release anything or get any publicity?

That's the difference in writers right there, one finds it to be work and not a big deal, whereas the other one jumps right one it....just saying.

Not going to jump on the writers on this one just yet. Normally these are done by press release and not any investigative reporting. Maybe USD has reasons as to why they have not released the info yet. Could be locking down a few points, could be timing, could be many different reasons.
I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Learfield is a reason for at minimum a large news release if not a small press conference. Anytime a school can get publicity they are gonna take it. I would be very surprised if USD didn't make a big deal out of it. Unless they only signed for half as much as SDSU and considered an announcement more of an embarrassment than a proud event. I doubt that is the case but ya never know.
In a bit of off topic point. It looks like USD may be heading in the direction of reporting attendance correctly. I believe the attendance was listed at 1500 or something like that against Pan American. In the past by the looks of the crowd it would have been listed as at least 2,500.

Per Mick's live chat today all the bows on the Learfield deal are not wrapped yet. Apparently the bows are tight enough to put up a job posting for a sales position in Vermillion supporting Learfield and USD. I would think if that is happening that an announcement could be made. Maybe the financial details are not finalized, who knows.

He had a meeting fall through, it wasn't planned that he would attend. he didn't talk, and probably only 10 people in the room knew who he was. He's from SD originally actually, but lives in Dallas TX area.

So, I couldn't find an update on Learfield. I noticed that the job posting to hire a representative is no longer on the Learfield website. So who did they hire? How much was the $$$ package?

No idea if they hired or not. It will be interesting to see what happens, because something needs to be done. I can barely get the games in Mitchell. Not cool, well unless I am missing the station or something.

So, I was driving back from Rapid last Sunday and one of the only stations I could get in on the AM dial was 570 out of Yankton. Yeah, time for SDSU women's basketball. I turned it, because I'd rather listen to screaming cats, and thankfully as I was closer to Pierre I could pull in the NCAA tourney on another station.
Point is, SDSU has great reach with 570 and doesn't require anything else. USD needs this Learfield deal and needs to have a statewide radio network. I should be able to sit in the lodge at the bottom of Terry Peak and pick up the Coyote game. Unrealistic? I don't think so. Last I checked Terry Peak, and the Black Hills, are still in South Dakota.

Yeah, the game needs to be reached from all over South Dakota, the last couple of radio contracts have really dropped the ball. I definitely hope that Leerfield is still coming in and cleaning up the radio mess right now.
