At -2 USD the best game is USD @ SHSU. To me the teams look evenly matched. The slight edge is neutralized by the strength of schedule.
USD has to stop the big play likely to come through the air.
Lots of emphasis on BV about combined records of opponents with SHSU having what appears to be a very weak schedule but it’s the same as Nicholls so it’s hard to figure.

They recently built new locker rooms for the baseball /softball teams: The Basketball Team: The Volleyball Team: And a new weight room for sports: They also have plans for a 29 Million-dollar renovation of the west-side grandstand for the football stadium, which will include new offices, suites, a president’s box, media level, etc. Here's an Architectural Rendering: ...but nothing about locker rooms for football. I'm guessing that they were a lower priority because they weren't as old or bad as the other facilities? The Stadium was built in 1985, so that's probably how old the lockerrooms are. I'm guessing that they are housed in the three-story building on the south end of the field, along with football offices. Here's another photo that kind of shows that.

By the way, I like the school's namesake. I've read extensively about the civil war era, etc. and sure hope nobody tears down any monument to, or statue of, this guy. If they do, I'd be pissed. Why would they? Sam Houston, as Governor of Texas, opposed secession, and refused to pledge loyalty to the Confederacy. It's why he was removed from office. He is more known for being a soldier in the war of 1812 and for his prominent role in securing the Independence of Texas from Mexico. Fun fact: He also lived with the Cherokee for years as a teenager in Tennessee, married a Cherokee woman, and fought for Indian rights in congress. He did not fight for the right of the South to continue slavery.

Here is the "Saturday's Storylines" segment I did for Midco Sports Tonight on Monday. Unlike most weeks, this one was all Coyotes.

Very pro-union, etc. My point, which was not so obvious, is that tearing down statues seems to be a thing nowadays. You never know how or when political opinion turns against you.

You never know how or when political opinion turns against you. I don't want to derail the thread, but if you are a fan of Civil War history, or American history for that matter, you should understand the history of why the vast majority of these confederate statues were erected (and there are a lot of them). When they were erected, where they were erected, and for what purpose. I won't discuss it any further, in order to keep politics out of this sports forum, but here is a link, if you are interested in what historians have to say on the matter: www.npr.org/2017/08/20/544266880/confederate-statues-were-built-to-further-a-white-supremacist-futurewww.history.com/news/how-the-u-s-got-so-many-confederate-monuments

What a great guy that Sam was. Maybe after the game on Saturday I will have to cheer just a little more for the Bear Cats. :-)

You are so right my friend. I've read a ton of books on the civil war and have visited many battlefield sites over the years. Frankly, the more I read about characters like Jeff Davis, the more I hated the South.
It's kind of in the rear view mirror for me right now. I fully understand the issue, though, and will let it pass. Time to take Sam Houston (State) down a notch!

SHSU is an elite FCS program make no mistake... 7th straight trip to the playoffs. 2012 they lost to NDSU in the FCS final, 2014 & 2015 lost in the semifinals, 2016 lost in the 2nd round to James Madison...
SHSU sits in a recruiting hotbed adjacent to Houston and only 3 hours from DFW which are arguably the top recruiting areas in the nation. The conference is not weak, not top to bottom tough like the MVFC, however are about 4 deep. Expect to see a big fast team with FBS caliber kids scattered at various positions.
Good opportunity to let the FCS community know USD has arrived!

The Any Given Saturday pro boards almost unanimously have us getting slaughtered on Saturday. Several posts are calling for a 21 point win by the Bearcats. I'm heading down to Houston and look forward to making those keyboard warriors eating crow. Go yotes!!!
