Looks like we got a Craig Smith situation all over again. I'll wait until Mick says Bob accepted the job. That's when I'll know there is nothing to worry about.

Is stig and the jacks behind all of this??? I would think otherwise, but after the #crampgate I wouldn't put it past them. [ Good move for Bob if he was offered...he’s done a great job in 2 years. In regards to this being Jack shenanigans, please...Stig and crew probably haven’t even heard the rumors. More important matters at hand, there’s a game to prep for in Brookings.

I mean, do you want to seek an FCS National Championship, or the Dollar General Bowl?

Current AD at Kent State is Joel Nielsen. I believe he was our AD when the D1 transition began. Connection to USD might not be a coincidence.

Do you want to make low to mid six figures or seven figures with opportunity to advance to an upper FBS job?

I mean, do you want to seek an FCS National Championship, or the Dollar General Bowl? Or triple your salary? Any one of us would vote for 3x and if you say no, you're probaly lying.

I mean, do you want to seek an FCS National Championship, or the Dollar General Bowl? Do you want to more than double your salary? Nielson is listed on the state website at 255k, Kent State's last coach was making 563k.

Kent State was very bad this year. 1-7 in the MAC, including a 44-16 loss to Bowling Green at home. Bob would be a great hire for them but I'm sure he can land a better situation if he is looking elsewhere.

I mean, do you want to seek an FCS National Championship, or the Dollar General Bowl? That’s kinda my thing. I eluded to this when the Craig Smith thing happened. But is a $100k more but higher cost of living better than living in cheap SD and Vermillion? He certainly has earned a raise from USD, and his current I believe $245-255k has to go a long way in this state. How many times do you want to rebuild? Do you ever want to see one through to another title? Not gonna get a title at Kent State. How much longer does he want to coach? All questions I cannot answer.

The money is not lost on me, I get it. But my point stands. As to an upper FBS job opportunity, he is 58 years old. I understand if you can coach, you'll get a job regardless of your age. But, for example, (without researching) I am guessing UCF isn't looking for a 60 year old coach from the MAC to replace Scott Frost. If they're taking somebody that age, then they will be taking a guy who has coached at a higher FBS level. But then again, I am biased. I want Bob to stay.

How old was Frank Solich when he took the Ohio job?

Truth, every team enters the season undefeated, seeking a championship. I’m guessing if he jumps to Kent St he’s making more than the previous coach...probably 850k with bonuses...throw in another bonus for a low level bowl and he’s doing quite well.
