I think El Coyote mentioned that he was talking with some USD Admin people, and someone mentioned it. Could have been a misunderstanding. And to be clear, WNIT game attendance isn't the ONLY factor. Obviously bids are very important, possibly more important. The two are related, of course, as the bid loosely represents what you can get in returns on tickets, concessions, area business sales, etc. Didn't the Vermillion Chamber of Commerce help out with the last bid? I was told that a week or so ago, but last night I mentioned it to someone in administration and was informed that that is completely wrong. I like the second answer better. sorry if I was the conduit for bad intel. No problem... just don't ever let it happen again. ;-)

With New Mexico out, the only other team left that would definitely get a home game against us is Indiana IMO. They had an attendance of 5,564 in their sweet-16 game. Granted, it was against a conference rival that was in-state, but they also average 3,300 per game on the season (top-30 nationally) Sweet 16 attendance: 5,564 Indiana 3,938 New Mexico3,072 South Dakota 950-- VA Tech 640-- Alabama 335-- St. John's ?---? West Virginia (1,651 in 2nd round) ?---? Kansas State (1,328 in 2nd round) (TCU had 1,069 in the 2nd round) (JMU had 1,048 in the 2nd round) (UC-Davis had 1,382 in the 1st round) Keep in mind Indiana's ticket prices were $6 for adults and $4 for children, so if they were all adults that would be $33,384 in ticket revenue. To equal that our avg price would be 10.86 for our 3,072. Based on that we could conceivably have more ticket revenue and outbid them. I only can see our attendance multiply with each round. Sunday should be CRAZY!!

UC-Davis pulls the upset @ KSU. 71-69
Two mid-major underdogs in the WNIT Elite Eight. Selection committee, take notice.

UC-Davis pulls the upset @ KSU. 71-69 Two mid-major underdogs in the WNIT Elite Eight. Selection committee, take notice. Two years ago, two mid-majors beat P5 schools to make it to the WNIT championship game (USD beat Oregon, FGCU beat Michigan). They didn't take notice then so I doubt they take notice now.

Despite how well TCU has been playing on the road, I have to give Indiana the nod for "most likely" WNIT champs this year. This picture shows a legit 6,000 fans watching women's basketball in one of the loudest-designed basketball arenas in the country. Besides that, they have been destroying their opponents.
My prediction is Indiana-WVU at Assembly hall. Surprisingly, they won't be able to break any WNIT attendance records (17,222 capacity), but could break their own WBB record of 10K.
WNIT attendance records:
18,018 - 2001 Championship - New Mexico -(vs. Ohio State) 16,113 - 2009 Championship - Kansas ------(vs. South Florida) 15,462 - 2007 Championship - Wyoming ----(vs. Wisconsin) 14,163 - 1999 Championship - Arkansas ----(vs. Wisconsin) 13,340 - 2006 Championship - Kansas State (vs. Marquette) 13,006 - 2000 Championship - Wisconsin ----(vs. Florida) 12,225 - 2007 Semifinal------- Wyoming -----(vs. Kansas State) 12,222 - 2014 Championship - UTEP ---------(vs. Rutgers) 12,222 - 2014 Semifinal ------ UTEP ----------(vs. SDSU) 11,253 - 2007 Quarterfinal --- Wyoming -----(vs. SDSU)
Lots of midwestern and southwestern teams represented in those records!

Indiana is basketball country x 10. Actually the Hoosiers have been being outdone by Purdue and Butler lately on the Mens side. I find it puzzling how much Indiana State has struggled since the Larry Bird national title team. They should be a threat to win the valley every year. IU has got to be getting sick of playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle in their own state.

For some reason when I think about basketball in Indiana I forget Notre Dame. You are right though, Notre Dame's recent history is better than Indiana's. That puts the Hoosiers at the 4th spot in their own state for recent performance and they can't even beat IPFW who gets punked by the upper tier Summit teams.
