This is my take on the whole "crampgate" situation. Did it impact the game, yes. Was it the cause of losing the game, no. Not even close. It's a funny quip that most USD fans use to get back at their sdsu supporting co-workers, friends, family members when they try to rub the win in our face. Nobody in thier right mind should believe that them having cramps had a direct correlation with the outcome of the game. However, I do 100% agree with YF in that it shows the true identity of that program to pull that kind of stunt. Then, the lack of institutional integrity is completely confirmed by the conundrum of the sweeping under the rug of Stig's DUI. But hey, they won the game. If that's all that matters to them, then congrats. But to continue to whine and complain about "crampgate" makes us look like excuse making losers, and I don't think that's a great look either. At the end of the day.... I still HATE state!!! Go Yotes! I think you hit the nail on the head right there - as a group they don't see that blind spot. As an FYI - I think 'crampgate' should be continued on in the fun/spirit of the rivalry, but USD fans need to know there is a line to cross between rivalry jabs vs. bad look. I submit the following as a guideline: Roll eyes talking to SDSU fan about cramps | rivalry jab | Saying to same fan (or Matt Zimmer) that caused the L | bad look | Dead animals on the field/court by students | rivalry jab | Dead animals on field/court by 45 year old alumni? | WTF? get help | Trolling opposing team fanboard/twitter (W or L) | bad look | Staying home from games in Brookings for whatever/no reason | rivalry jab | Laughing when SDSU fans say stadium will be empty because USD fans don't travel | rivalry jab | Taking the 'winning is all that matters' POV | bad look | Saying winning doesn't matter | bad look | Poking fun at other school's academic standing | rivalry jab | xDSU's spite/hatred of UxD's | bad look | UxD's indifference to said spite/hatred | rivalry jab | Drinking Joose before/during/after game | rivalry jab | Drinking Joose and then driving somewhere | bad look |

Any recommendations on where to eat dinner in Brookings? It depends on your expectations. Pheasant is a great change for good burgers or other special concoctions of the day which might include lamb, beef, pork, fish, or goat. Craft can provide steaks, seafood, and pasta dishes(good martinis). Old Market has a similar lineup as Craft as it shares management. Whiskey Creek and Applebee's are east by the I29 exit. Ground Round and Staurolite are on the west side of I29 exit. There are also quite a few of the fast food and pizza places on 6th Street that are easy to find. If you like Indian food, there is a place on Main Av.

At the end of the day.... I still HATE state!!! Go Yotes! We bring up Crampgate not as an excuse for why we lost the game. We lost the game because we could not stop their studs from making big plays and willing them to the win. We bring it up to remind State folks of, like you said, what the true identity of their program really is and how they lack integrity. Especially considering all of those years of hearing about how State does things "the right way" and how they have bashed on us from the pulpit thinking they exist on some moral high ground. Crampgate is brought up to point out how hypocritical they really are.

Any recommendations on where to eat dinner in Brookings? Get some Taco Express at the gas station by the interstate. George's Pizza is pretty good. I wasn't impressed with their restaurants when I lived up there and in my visits since.

I wasn't impressed with their restaurants when I lived up there and in my visits since. And there is a newer business on South Main called Mama Mia which is more upscale Italian food. There are plenty of non fast food places to be found including the Sushi place near HyVee..

The cramp thing happens in all sports. VB players toweling off a phantom wet spot on the floor. Basketball players untieing and tiring their shoe. Bottom line State has owned us and until that changes we look like a bunch of poor sports bringing up cramping or fake cramping. I have not probs with them giving their coach a 2nd chance with a DUI. I've been out with our staff when they could get pulled over for having 4 or 5 beers. I know they or we wouldn't probably get a 3rd chance.

It's just that Stig, in particular, made it a public point that he is the holier than anyone in SD, and then gets caught and doesn't own it. Instead he tried to sweep it under the rug with the help of his administration. No one has said that people don't deserve to have a 2nd chance. People just respond to state fans calling USD fans hypocrites by pointing out the hypocrisy of Stig's situation I'll also point out that Holy Nutmeg didn't just have a couple social beers and hit the road. He got stuck in a ditch and couldn't stand up when approached by an officer. He then went on to have the details of his case sealed to the public and when asked about his punishement for the offense responded with "I'll do something to myself, I won't make it public, but it will be substantial." Pot.....meet kettle. Any who.... HATE state Go Yotes!

At the end of the day.... I still HATE state!!! Go Yotes! I hear you about it not being a great look to still be complaining about it, but it's only been a year. USA basketball still complains about the 1972 Olympics, Nebraska fans still complain about getting jobbed in the 1993 National Championship, and Packer fans complain about the Fail Mary against Seattle. So I don't think the statute of limitations has run on this one just yet. Also, I will have to disagree on it not having a direct correlation on the outcome. On the one hand you admit that it impacted the game, but then you say that nobody in their right mind should believe that it had a direct correlation to the outcome. I don't think those two statements jive. I will agree with your first statement, that it did impact the game. That is obviously why they were doing it. If it had no impact on them winning then they wouldn't do it. If a team likes to run up tempo and has you on your heels and you continually use illegal strategies to slow that team down then of course that is going to impact the game, and hence have a direct correlation on the outcome, as the game was a very close game that went down to the wire. The ole "but for" test. But for them doing that we would have won. The one way I think your two statements would make sense together is if we lost in a blowout. Then I would agree that the game could be impacted, but not have a direct correlation on the outcome. However, in a game as close as this one was, it doesn't take much impact to effect the outcome.

Should be 21 and partly sunny at game time! Couldn’t be better football weather. tailgate lots will probably be muddy, as usual. Maybe there will be enough bathrooms this year? I haven’t been there since it was finished.

Interesting reading and I will leave it at that. Thanks for your insight. nccyote is spot on. Nothing wrong with making a mistake, but if and when you do, own it. People are usually very forgiving, it will be forgotten in short order and everyone moves on. The way saint stig handled it is what calls this into question and why it doesn't go away. Also, do USD fans post on your board? Any of our people would be banned before we could hit submit.
