Well, she's "official", folks! In all the hand-wringing over Kyah and Maddie, let's remember that we have yet to lose a recruit. That points to Coach P's good ethics, as well. You think Demers isn't a Big XII-caliber player? Think again. It's another good day to be a Coyote!

‘Cruits on campus, officially freshmen. Also: Joy looks to be all of 5-11 standing next to Walker. No exaggeration.

I have a feeling that these two are going to see a lot of minutes next season.

Demers seems like a nice prospect with outstanding size. But that's a fair question.

I have a feeling that these two are going to see a lot of minutes next season. I don't to be honest. I think banking on a 6-3 kid from small-school North Dakota ball to be remotely ready to take on college kids in what should be her high school senior season is a HUGE order. I'll be happy to be wrong but I don't think she's going to be leapfrogging the bigs you've already got.

Technically, it should be her senior season, but she is turning 18 this month. It looks like she started kindergarten a year later, so she is the same age as a lot of freshman. My daughter started her freshman summer when she was 17, as well.

And a lot of freshman bigs don't play major minutes right when they step onto a college campus. Like most of them.

I feel like maybe this is turning into a thing where I don't believe in Demers. It's not that at all. I have no idea what she's going to do or how good she is. Wouldn't know her if she walked in my front door right now. But like I said, freshmen bigs don't usually play a ton anyway; freshmen bigs who speed up that process by a year to fast track medical school studies and tackle the world of college athletics on top of it? I'm just saying I'd keep my on-court expectations pretty low and be pleasantly surprised if they're exceeded.

My comment on Demers above was more about the negative narrative surrounding the Kyah and Maddie transfers. Her staff spent a lot of time and effort recruiting girls to USD that, presumably, were going to be good in Coach P’s system. Nobody jumped ship after she left, and I had heard that her staff advised recruits to honor their commitments.
It was the right thing to do, and I’m assuming it wasn’t just because they weren’t “Big XII material “. They were initially scrambling to find players at WVU after so many transfers.
It was a positive comment both about Coach P’s ethics, and about the quality of our recruits. No need to look any deeper than that.
I doubt if Demers will start, but I also doubt she redshirts.

I would also be very surprised if she graduated high school a year early to come redshirt.

Another thing about minutes, just because it's "new coach new system", I doubt either Freshman redshirts. I'll guess that there will be a good deal of trial-and-error as it relates to the roster early in the season. They will probably need to try some things out in real-game situations, with the cream rising to the top, so to speak. Everyone will probably get a fresh look, and some opportunities to prove themselves. Just a guess.
We probably will play a lighter non-con (hard not to) as well.

Totally agree. NA-A, Larkins, Ugofsky and Peplowski are going to play quite a bit, I'd imagine. Mazurek too, if she's healthy. But there are going to be a lot of minutes to be had and a lot of unknowns looking to have them.
