“Position-less Defense” taken literally, there are no truer words. My goodness. It’s designed to “make it difficult for opposing teams” idk though Montana seems to have figured it out. But it is the first game of a new system so there’s bound to be some issues. I’m am concerned about our offensive line though.

It's pretty shocking just how bad the defense was today. Montana wants to pass every play and there is never a defender in the area.

Game observations/grades.
Defense: Pass rush: good/B Rush defense: good/B DB: Did we have any?/. Is there a grader lower than F?
Special teams: Punt: good to great/A KO return: good/B KO and coverage: why can’t we get a kicker that can kick it into the end zone? Coverage, horrible/F
Offense: Simmons: inconsistency/C- WR: good/B Running game/ improved over last year/B OL/ more good than bad today/C+

Imo, today’s O Line looked better than at any point last season. They’re bigger and Simmons seemed to have at least a little more time. They lack experience and hopefully they can improve.
The secondary was a complete liability. There was nothing deceiving about their strategy at all. I understand Montana has some ballers at the WR but our guys could hardly engage, much less make a tackle.
Hopefully Henry isn’t hurt too bad and we can work him back into the scheme. I saw good things from our RBs.
Case is a freak. Hopefully his performance takes some pressure off the other WRs and that whole group can break out this year.

You are kidding me that Ben Klett didn’t get in the game? Seriously? What the hell kind of game does it take to have a down within the 5 yard line and have Ben run it in? I am baffled?

Was Klett hurt? With so many 3rd/4th and shorts, it seemed like his time to shine, especially after Henry was hurt.

2013. #12 Montana returns a kickoff for a TD late to survive a game in the Dome coming back to win 31-27. That's what I remember of the Griz return game. 2014. USD travels to Montana and loses a hard fought 28-20 contest. 2013 & 2014 are the only times we have played Montana as an FCS equal and, let's be honest, those Coyote teams were bad finishing with records of 4-8 & 2-10. We've played some good Montana teams pretty tight with some pretty bad Yote teams. Montana in 2013 finished the season ranked 8th with a 10-3 record and a second round playoff loss. Montana in 2014 finished season ranked 11th with a 9-5 record and a second round playoff loss. Does anybody think today's Coyote football team and program are in a much better, much stronger position than back in 2013-2014? I do. I think we are much better now and I don't really think Montana has elevated themselves from those 2013-2014 days. I still think it will be a tough contest but honestly wouldn't be surprised if we manhandled the Griz at home. So, safe to say you were surprised by today's result yote53?

We set up in pouring rain at 9:00AM in anticipation for todays game which includes a walk through by the team. No show? Seriously?

Everyone needs to take a deep breath. Montana is ranked 25 for a reason with a very solid team, outstanding QB, all-American MLB, excellent WRs etc. Obviously the Yotes can play better but losing our starting RB early and our best CB didn't help and yet we were deep in MT territory with 730 left with the opportunity to make it a one score game. I thought the OL played better than expected and the DL played very well shutting down the MT running game completely even with a very good option QB. Offense needed to play better in first Q and obviously coverages needed to be tighter and with better tackling. Plenty to learn from and everyone just needs to play one game at a time and continue to improve. GO YOTES!!!

The band stopped down at the end of the road to play, maybe that’s where the President was, don’t know she didn’t show up in the parking Lot. It wasn’t raining....so disappointed...my favorite part of the day is the band and the players walking thru...I talked it up to the many people that I payed to come to the game to get butts in the seats...they didn’t get to see it and I was disappointed and am saddened. Sure hope the President can see fit to see us next game, maybe the band can play and the team can walk by, wouldn’t hurt if the athletic director was around to support those that support his cause.

Just speculating but I wonder if they didn’t do the walk though the lot because of the ramp that they enter on being closed due to the construction. Not a good excuse but just my guess

Pathetic excuse for the athletic director, President, band to not walk thru...the band did walk thru they just only stopped at the end. Sucks for us not on the end and trying to create excitement for those who haven’t been there before.

Have to remind myself that it’s a marathon ...not a sprint. Lots of ball left !
