Haven't had a chance to post about the game until now. I haven't been this proud to be a coyote in a long time. The yotes fought through adversity, offense made some big plays, defense rose up to the challenge with their backs against the wall and got some HUGE turnovers and stops. Crowd was great (I'm still hoarse). Just a great team win. South Dakota is finally a COYOTE STATE again.
This gives us some big momentum going into the off season. I know a lot of us have critical of Bob and Co., and rightfully so at times. This shows us we have the ability to be a player in the MVFC, just have to find the consistency to bring this effort week in and week out.

Jarren Duffy and David Herbster both had great tweets of the crowd right after the win that show the only empty seats in the Dome were those being vacated by folks in blue and yellow heading for the door. Both tweets were posted Saturday if kiyoat or one of you other tech savvy posters can pull them up. They are awesome! Great win and just getting my voice back today. Lots of fun Saturday and as always, it is a great day to be a Coyote! |

USD is not any different than any other school when it comes to attendance. Also, that one picture was taken right before pre-game handshakes. I can confirm I was just walking into the Dome with my group and on our way to our seats. The outside tailgate still had plenty of fans in it and the concourse was packed at that moment, so yeah, there were a lot of fans still meandering in plus there are always fans that stay outside and tailgate and listen to the game on the radio. For games like D-Days and SDSU the number of people outside can be considerably high. Personally, I am perfectly fine with that. Gamedays are sometimes the few chances we have to catchup with college friends and it sometimes happens that you'd rather stay outside and catch up. Gameday is an all day event and I'd rather have people who just come for the tailgating than to not come at all. Speaking of the tailgate, it was a pretty dang good atmosphere out there before and especially after the game.

Empty seat smack. Who fricking cares? 24-21. Well, It's all they can really talk trash about with regard to the game. Can't make up excuses. They lost. They found a way to lower the bar even further, with some of their fans trash-tweeting their own players. Sounds like a lack of discipline. |

All I’m hearing is how they were the better team and it’s a disgrace to lose to USD in anything. The past two times we played them in the Dome I always felt like we were the better team but found a way to lose. So I went back and did a comparison and this is how it plays out:

ps The Dome will be a pressure cooker next year once the west side is completed. Aside from the WNIT win over Oregon and the WNIT Championship win, I've never heard the Dome that loud. My ears are still ringing.

I’m telling you, USD is going to have some absolutely terrific offensive skill kids next fall. Their WR group with a a healthy Case, Vander Esch, Bell, etc. is going to be so athletic and lights out. Good luck matching up with that group. RB is loaded with talent and the OL will be that much better. Hopefully, we have a QB that can distribute it, will lose the running ability there though. Agreed. Don’t forget getting a healthy Levi Falck back too. Our version of Adam Thielen. |
