Ugly first quarter. Offense defense and special teams all look pretty average unfortunately. No pass rush for the defense. Letting their qb pick his shots. Offensive line getting worked over it seems like. And the blocked FG.... Hopefully cleans up a bit. Don't forget the negated missed FG. 0/2 from short range is bad. I'm more forgiving on everything else given how many new faces are out there. Having Scheidegger out is a big hole to fill. Can't dream of running the ball right now. I'm again left wondering who these people in the secondary are. Couple good plays from Camp are very encouraging. |

I like how he moves around in the pocket although I wish he didn't have to run for his life on every drop back. But he looks uncomfortable running the option |

Honestly didn't know what to expect today, but it sure wasn't to get blown out. That's the way this is going.

How is it possible for the secondary to be such a glaring weakness so many years running? Twice now I've seen #16 throwing up his hands at his teammates after wide open bombs down field. That's a healthy response that fosters teamwork.

Played better at the end of the season but was horrible for the most part. Position-less defense ring a bell? |

Camp and our run defense(LBs) are the only encouraging components so far. Both lines are being abused.

D line makes a great play to get the ball back. Offense starts rolling, finally able to run it, so Illinois State fakes an injury to get a timeout. So sick of this tactic.

Thanks for reminding me of those fond memories..... I've never been a defensive guy, but I just can't get behind the nickel and dime package in passing downs. You are relying on your secondary to lock down and we haven't had the horses to do that in years. |

Camp had an eternity on those last two plays. Hit a LB between the numbers and took a sack. Don't like that.

Hey hey! Defense makes another big play to setup the offense, this time for a TD on a broken play from Camp to Vander Esch.
I was ready to make a joke about life seeming normal again with the game being over before halftime, but it's suddenly 17-10 with 2 minutes left in the 2nd.
