That was a W we let slip away.

The Sky is certainly not falling but the support beams are a beat weak on the roof. The Northern Arizona game is a must win or this season falls apart quickly in all likelihood.

Oof. Tough loss. Realistically, this was an even match up. And Kansas storming the field after a week 1 win is pretty interesting.
I saw enough in this game to at least be optimistic about the rest of the season. But the quarterbacking will really need to improve.

Gut wrenching loss but encouraging performance. Our defense will give teams problems. Either our WRs need to get open or Camp needs to relax and be more decisive in the pocket. Power running is much improved.

Welp, that might have been the most winnable game on the schedule. Don't be silly.

I had very mixed emotions until the end of the 4th quarter. I think Camp looked good on some things and worse than spring ball in others. I have to remember this is his 5th college game and he’s a freshman. I still think he’s the dude.
A few negatives. We iced our own kicker. That was completely botched. Pretty sloppy at times with a lot of penalties. The targeting call at the end was the nail in the coffin emotionally for the team. It was the right call, but you cannot make that play at that crucial point in the game.
I thought we looked more physical in the trenches than we have been…uh, ever. About time.

The total yards were 263-245 in favor of the Coyotes. A game like that is going to come down to a few key plays. The big kickoff return was vital as it flipped the field. Camp obviously needs to be much better. We will see how long of a leash Nielson gives him. I would say he should get a couple of more games to see if he can improve before pulling him. I am usually impatient but I still think he can get better. Good 1-2 punch at the running back position and the D was pretty good today. I really don't see this Coyote team making a serious push for a top 3 spot in the league but stranger things can and do happen.
The vital part of the schedule IMO is weeks 3-6
at Cal Poly at Missouri State vs Indiana State vs UND
Those are the crucial games and a 2-2 record in that span at worst is needed for a good season.

I think this is a fair assessment. The biggest problem I have with today is the fact that I knew we lost the game when we have them the ball with 5 minutes left. We have never been able to play with a lead. We play a soft zone and try to keep everything in front and it always ends up with the other team matching the length of the field. No pressure or stunts or anything when we take a lead.

I saw some good things. Very happy with our line play and the defense.
Then I turn the station and see the Jacks beating up Colorado State. Ugh. We have some work to do.
Actually not going to hate on the Jacks here. Feather in the cap for the conference. We play a high level of ball in the Valley. Now we just need to get better so we can win in conference.

I read on here that most think the yotes look better than last yr. Remember who they were playing. Haven't won in 667 days till tonight. Our play calling is total horse shit. How long do we keep the Offensive coordinator and head coach. Both got to go now.

There's basically 2 tiers in the MVFC and we're in the wrong one unfortunately. CSU is surely better than Kansas and state is taking them to the wood shed. We have a long ways to go.

Oh, I agree.
I'm going to take the first part of this CFB season with a grain of salt for all teams. It's been a crazy last year plus. Once these teams her in a flow then I'll be able to get a better gauge on things.
I definitely see we have some work to do but I was happy with our line play tonight. I mean, the offensive line looked fairly solid and if you think about last spring...major improvement.
We'll see I suppose.

This season is going to come down to Camp's growth and situational coaching. Camp just doesn't seem to read and react to the defense very well right now. For the coaches, we need to stop playing mind games with our kicker and get play calls in quicker.
We're not at either State U's level yet by a long shot, but, if our line play continues with what we saw tonight, we can hang with the rest of conference. It's nice to be able to say that.

How long do we keep the Offensive coordinator and head coach. Both got to go now. So who do you hire in September? There's not an unemployment line of winning coaches to just pick one out of. This staff deserves the criticisms they get, but for the most part I didn't have a problem with the play calling. Our offensive struggles weren't really because of the scheme, we have a young QB that didn't play a good game. That's all it amounts to. We executed and moved the ball pretty well until we asked Camp to sit in the pocket and try to go through his progressions. That's not a scheme problem, just a failure to perform.
