Positive Comments:
A totally complete game. Dominated in all facets. Our defense is stifling.
Our offense got better due to QB play. A ways to go, but trending the right way
Passion and enthusiasm is there and more importantly REAL. Great sign
Coaches are coaching these guys the whole game. Very engaged.
STUDENT BODY SUPPORT was awesome, but could even be better. But they were engaged. Great job students
Over 90 former players from the 60’s to 2020 were in attendance from all corners of the country. The COYOTE BROTHERHOOD is growing in both engagement and financial support
Nielsen smiled
NEGATIVE COMMENTS:
No way there were 5200 in attendance yesterday. Closer to 3000-3500. Fan support and alumni support needs to grow. ZERO reason why we can’t sell out the Dome every game. The tailgate was off the charts. University athletic staff were more engaged than in the past to develop that total GAMEDAY experience. We can get to that point where we’re in the hunt every year.

I know you had to wait an extra year for it. Are the amenities and atmosphere in the newly renovated dome everything you expected and hoped for? Also, is it completely finished now, or is there another phase left to complete? They have exceeded my expectations. It is a fantastic facility. As Coyote Fan pointed out the coloring and graphics are first class. The “on field suites” are amazing. The MVFC commissioner was there yesterday and couldn’t believe the finished product. Our facilities are on par with anyone’s at our level.

You just have to wonder if there are season ticket holders not using seats because of the indoor stadium and covid. There has to be a few.
Hame day operations needs to do some work before DDAYS. I understand there was some turnover in that department right before the game this week, but not acceptable to have no stats on the scoreboard, no replays all day, heard from a buddy the stream was a mess with graphics, no out of town scores, and missed some ads after the 2nd half sacks for a local business. They better have some simulated games before 10/2/21 to properly show off the place.
No clue where the Lumberjacks end up in the Big Sky, but we looked like the better team and that’s a big positive. Do it again next week!

I sat in the 5th row on the east side, about the 40 yard line, and the 4 rows in front of me were very empty. There's definitely ticketholders who didn't go to the game yesterday.

Do it again next week! I thoroughly enjoyed the game on Saturday …. Was shocked that the home opener was 1/3 capacity. Love the energy the players bring on the defensive side of the ball… thought Schlafke did a nice job of keeping NA off balance… although extremely young On offense and we can improve, things are looking up. I was there an hour before kickoff…very organized and regimented throughout. Now we just need to fill the place!

I was at the game Saturday and was extremely impressed with the whole atmosphere, branding, and energy from the alums and fans. Saw a large group of football recruits in attendance, so I’d imagine they were also impressed with what they saw and felt.
As far as the game, it was really nice to see the establishment of our run game and holding true to it throughout a drive. A few shot plays here and there, but the majority of damage was done with the run game and high % throws on RPOs and quick game. I still worry about Camp when it is a definite passing down and his inability to stay focused in the pocket when the rush is around him. He tends to pull his eyes off and look at the rush too often and then misses wide open WRs. Very impressed with Thies and his running style along with the Bell kid at WR. Get the ball in those guys hands and good things happen.
The defense was stellar and its energy is contagious. Great hire with Coach Brown, the D-line Coach. It’s obvious that he has transformed that group into a high energy unit which allows our LBs to make a ton of plays. If the D can continue to play with that pack mentality, we will have a great chance to win games!!

I just went back and looked at the stats for this game. The team stats are shockingly even, it's actually incredible the score was as lopsided as it was. We only outgained them by 30 yards, we lost the time of possession battle, and they converted 3rd downs at a better percentage than we did. It's pretty wild to only score 7 points on 350 yards of offense while converting 50% of third downs. Obviously, the Coyotes dominated that game but the stats make it look closer than it probably was.

I remember looking up at the scoreboard when we went up 17 - 0 and the game was only about 5 minutes old. It was going to be a long day. Then we scored again. When you get up like that you tend to go vanilla on offense and defense. Keep things in front of you. Don't give up a big play. Don't turn the ball over. Sub guys in to get them reps. Just maintain control of the game and don't let the other team get any momentum. Playing softer coverage and keeping things in front of you is part of that, bend but don't break and force them to go all the way down the field. I think the double reverse that nearly turned into a bad turnover deep in our zone reinforced to the staff to not get too fancy. When games get like that you have to look at the other stats a little differently.

Did anyone take a photo of the west side today so I could see how many fans were there? I got a photo about 45 minutes before the game so that might not be of much help. I would estimate about 6,000 today. edit: 5247 was the listed paid attendance and I don't think this was inflated at all. Is this real? The outside tailgate area seemed like it was full of people. My guess is all 5,000 or so were tailgating too. One would think that after not playing games last year that people would be hungry to attend games. I think it's the opposite. I think people formed different habits and it's going to take quite a bit to get them back to attending games. I know a few people I asked if they were going and they said they were just going to watch on TV. There is something to be said for watching football on the flat screen at home. It's convenient. I don't think this is just a USD thing either. I think this is true of all college and pro sports. Personally, I had a blast going to the game, so whatever. I'll be interested to see attendance across the conference as the season rolls on.

We have 8900 seats in the Dome plus roughly 300 suite tickets I believe the students get 1700 tickets that goes from row 1 to the top in those 2 sections.
The suite holders are required to purchase those 300 tickets whether they are used or not. That means 4900+ were tabulated as sold. I guaranty it wasn’t anywhere near that number. That would well over half the Dome would have occupied seats. I’m betting 3000 is damn close. It should be 7500 minimum but it’s not. We have a lot of work to do.
I agree the tailgate was great. Beautiful day. If we are going to grow to be an annual contender we need total fan and alumni support. Not contingent upon how they played one game or another. Streaming the game should be pay per view equivalent to ticket prices and only free to Howling Oack members that give at a certain level.
We cannot build an elite program without money. Impossible. The fans have had a deal over the years. We need to step it up.

I definitely couldn't make the trip to San Luis Obispo this weekend, but I know exactly what I'll be doing at 7 oclock Saturday night. I think it probably helps in expanding the recruiting footprint as well, being able to tell athletes (and their parents) that the games will be on ESPN every week.

Every reason mentioned on this thread for why people didn't attend is likely accurate. A few more wins and covid dying down will help a ton with both of those "wait and see" crowds. I wish I could say the Indiana State game will be better, but it is likely the UND game that will be the first big turn out. Obviously the State game will be sold out, the only question is if the red shirts will turn out in mass.

I honestly believe you should be able to stream every game the Coyotes play. When they are on the road there’s no question you should be able to. What I’m saying is if you’re gonna stream a home game I feel there should be a cost. If we had 5000 people stream it and not buy tickets our program would tank financially. Maybe you could buy a streaming “season ticket” for all home games. I think the hangover of Covid is playing a role. That’s why I said if you are at a certain giving level in the Howling Pack you would get it as a benefit. The issue is we have to few a people funding this sport. Ticket / streaming revenue is key to funding the programs. I never want to turn fans away whether it’s in person or in the comfort of their home. And also keep in mi d there’s a cost associated to stream it. We are on the same page, it’s just we must generate revenue from game day. Hell refs probably cost $15,000 or more per game.

My guess is all 5,000 or so were tailgating too. Are you referring to the parking lot immediately outside the east entrance? That may have been full, but that makes up a very small number of people. I'll admit that I got to the dome late (12:30ish) but from what I could tell there wasn't any tailgating to be found in the other areas. The grass parking south of the dome used to be a good tailgating spot, but its concrete replacement had 20-30 cars in it (seriously, what the hell?) and no one hanging out. The concrete lot south of that was at 100% capacity, but I didn't see anyone tailgating. I'm guessing the students had a good showing outside? I didn't walk by their dedicated section before the game. I walked by the pool party at The Heights and that was insane. I'm concerned the already fractured tailgate experience has been doomed further by the new parking lot no one can use and the house party across the street. It's increasingly a situation where you either pay an obscene amount of money to be in the VIP lot or you don't get a tailgate experience. I've complained for years about our tailgate situation and it only gets worse every year.

That is interesting that you brought that up. The Coyotes have traditionally been a team that can outgain a team by 100 or more yards and still find a way to lose. I see progress when the numbers are relatively equal but the Coyotes figure out a way to blow them out. The Coyotes were opportunistic which is a big time plus.
