Based upon the NAU game I am not even sure where the student tailgate was located..I have been have a tailgate spot for 15+ years...started under the cottonwood trees and now in the parking lot. We had fun then and we have fun now. I feel like the U treats the student tailgate like a second hand store....whatever is unused they get to use it...then we move them if we want the space. I understand the aspect of rewarding big donors; but given the fact every student is invested in the program through fees, enrollment and friends, we should not be pushing them off the back forty. Their tailgates may be loud and fun, (and maybe overboard for D Days,) but it is who they are and we were. The University is missing opportunities by not getting feedback from the tailgate nation on the placement of the students. Keep 'em close, not far away. Agree here. We need to take care of the folks writing the checks, obviously. But in my opinion student engagement is more important. We always talk about how the dome needs to be loud. You don't get noise from the luxury boxes, no matter how much they donate. If you want a hostile place for opponents to play, you need a student section. You need a thousand college kids that have just enough booze in em to scream their heads off for 3 hours. The student tailgate needs to be a party that every kid on campus wants to be at.

To the extent that tailgating helps get people to attend the game, that is a plus. But there are a significant number of people, especially students and the under 35 crowd, that tailgate and then head back to the dorm, bars or house parties to watch the game and/or continue partying, especially on D Days. The biggest goal needs to get butts in the seats and keep them in the Dome for all 4 quarters.

It wasn't long ago when the students didn't even show up at the dome on Saturdays. You're always going to have people that don't make it inside, but at least they're there.

Northern AZ beats AZ 21-19 at Tucson for only their 2nd win against AZ. The last was in 1932. AZ now has lost 15 in a row. They were favored by 24.

Colorado State pounded Toledo last night and just last week Norte Dame had to score at the end to beat Toledo at home.
College football at its best.
