The team should be feeling pretty good about themselves this morning. Coming off a big win on the home opener. Time to build on that success and head out to California and get a win.
Cal Poly opened their season by beating non-scholly San Diego, then went to Fresno State this weekend and got their doors blown off. Just from the attitude on their fan board (not much discussion, poor participation on their board), it seems like Cal Poly is in kind of a rebuilding mode. On paper, we should be favored in this one. If this was a home game, I'd be expecting a pretty thorough victory but I don't like how far away it is. California is a long trip and travel takes a toll plus it's a night game and the distraction of being in San Luis Obispo with the ocean, sunshine, etc - it's a really neat area. On the plus side, I don't expect it to be a particularly hostile environment to play in. I trust this team will take it in stride and play up to their abilities.
Let's go out there and take care of business and get into conference play at 2-1.

I am not impressed at that Fresno State result. I do think it's worth noting that San Diego, despite being non-scholarship, has consistently won the Pioneer and some 1st round playoff games.
A win at Cal Poly would be very significant. Playing on the road is always hard and they aren't slouches. 2-1 in non-conference has to be our bare minimum each year if we are going to be playoff contenders. Let's clear that hurdle.

We have to be careful here. This has the potential to be a let down game. The Coyote team that we see at home doesn't always show up in away games with the same zeal. If the Coyotes play like they did in the first two games they should be ok. These are the games that a good to middling Valley team should take care of. I think this will be a pick em game. The Coyotes need to keep the momentum going and getting a win in San Luis Obispo would keep things pointed in the right direction.
I am going to pick the Coyotes 26-23 with Cal Poly missing a 35-40 yard field goal at the gun. Not feeling super great about the prediction but what the heck.

I'm feeling a little more optimistic about this game than others here. In my opinion, the travel is a bigger hurdle for us than Cal Poly. If this game was played in Vermillion, I'd be expecting a similar result to what we saw against NAU.

It's not the opponent it's the travel and the late game on the west coast. It's just really difficult to do and those games get a little hairy. There is a reason why PAC 12 After Dark is crazy and full of shenanigans.

The game starts at 5 local time. That’s later than normal for us, but we played at 7 in Kansas and this will be a 7 body clock game. Seems to me it’s easier to go west than east. Hopefully the leadership keeps them focused on a business trip mentality. Running the ball effectively should help. Traveling back to back weeks might be the hardest part, so take care of business this week!

If the Coyotes want to be a winning program they need to get by the long travel thing. If there is a focus how it should be and needs to be the Coyotes should play well. It is not like they are playing on a travel day. They will get a good nights rest (hopefully) and should be plenty ready to give it their best.

Time zone isn't a factor. Long travel and quality of opponent are.

Honestly a 2.5 hour flight is less taxing than a 6 hour bus ride. Quality players just block this crap out. Cal-Poly is lower level Big Sky. No excuses. Business trip. Kick their a$$, head home, and get ready for Valley play
If we are for real we get the win and head home 2-1

Travel time and location may not derail the team, but if half the squad shows up at 5:00, others at 7:00, and the rest at 9:00 we will be in trouble...

On a serious note, we should have some remedial training on how time zones work for this board, myself included.
