I might be wrong and I’ll admit it upfront, but this teams identity to me is becoming its defense. More games are needed but I’m starting to get that feel. If so, then to me the key to a W tonight is limiting Cal-Poly to little or no field advancement. Don’t let them flip the field and pound it and score when given opportunities. I’m really liking this squad.

Good morning guys n gals! Get the hell up it's game day! We've got an opportunity to go into conference play with a winning record, let's go take it. My keys to this one: 1) Keep up the run defense like we've seen the first 2 weeks. Force them to try and throw the football then dial up the pressure. 2) Establish the run with both running backs early and often. Get them both touches in the first couple series and keep them rotating. 3) Don't ask Camp to do more than he has to. I loved how the staff adjusted from week 1 to 2 in terms of play calling for him. Give him the easy throws and let him get comfortable back there. For the first time in a long time, it feels like our offense doesn't depend on the big play, so no need to force it down field. 4) Ball security. Don't give them any extra possessions. The wife n kid are still sleeping so I'll wait until the sun comes up for the ceremonial Miller Lite and my rendition of Fight South Dakota. Have a great time out in San Luis Obispo those of you fortunate enough to be making the trip, it's a really neat area. To say I'm jealous of you would be putting it lightly. I think Cal Poly is supposed to be more of a passing team than our first two opponents. It will be interesting to see how we do against that.

Changed coaches. The old coach ran the option, but the new guy came in from Eastern Washington and favors the passing game. This is his first full season at SLO. He was there for last year's shortened season. |

I agree. I was just curious why Theis isn’t playing. Vander Esch was hurt last week.
I like Ike Mansaray so I’m curious to see how he does. My guess is he’ll get quite a few carries.

Hadn't heard anything about Theis not playing, but I'm more than comfortable with Mansaray and Lawrence getting the carries.
